I took my car to the strip the other day and i thought some people might like to know the times!! This is my first Drag race event ever and I know the car can go bit quicker as I am a big guy and i had a hard time getting full grip off launch! after 6 runs my best time was 15.828, I would imagine with more experience i can push the 15.3-15.5 range. If i can ever figure out how to upload videos or photo's i will add them!! I have a Video vs. a 2012 v6 mustang.. but i can't figure out or get uploading to work!! anyways guys, for a first time i stayed around the 15.8-16.1 mark!! anyone have any suggestions for best launch on 9th gen and any suggestions about shifting points, e.g redline or when the 5th shift light comes on?
Launching with the all seasons isn't awesome. Experimenting with throttle modulating is key. I'd imagine its a little different with me vs you because I'm 165 lbs lol. I shift at redline myself. So much depends on the driver with shifting etc.also, how many miles on your car, and tire wear is a big factor too. External factors like weather okay a factor also.

Not an expert in this, but common sense would be without buying drag radials etc. bump rear tire presure way up, less rolling resistance. the front i would drop couple pounds, more grip less tire spin. go to the track with an 1/8 of a tank that would save you 80lbs or so. throw out the spare tire and jack, thats other 30 or so pounds, and throw out everything else you don't need. For shift points, check other peoples dyno results to see where the peak horse power is while keeping in the v-tec range when shifting, i'm sure this car is dopping off hp at red line. Do not do a wet burn out with street tires, it not a slick. With that being said maybe others have better advice, because maybe i have my head up my
u can do better,i weigh 230 lbs, went 14.9 at 94 in 95 degree weather and 50% humidity on old 07 stock si tires ,cause i aint burnin up brand new ones.drag radials on order for honda day.i expect to be solidly in the 14,s i shift at 7k
Best time in mine is a 14.9 with worn tires. Still perfecting my launch. I travel with an NMCA 275 drag radial team so I'm quite familiar with drag racing. SI's DO NOT NEED DRAG RADIALS! Get a good set of tires but honestly there's not enough power to warrant drag race tires. Sure they'll make your launch a no-brainer but they will rob MPH and after the 60 foot, theyre high resistance is slowing you down. Work on your launch, From my experience, look for about a 2.2-.24 60 foot time.
My best was 14.93 @94 with stock all seasons. Getting the launch down is the important part. I've been racing for quite a few years. I only did 2 runs in the Si. I launched at about 3k and deflated the front tires to 30lbs. Rears were at about 37. I shifted at about 6800-6900. I felt like I was losing power after that. Good runs though man, keep hittin the strip and getting better.
Dont listen to anyone telling you not to use drag radials.ive gone 14.4 @96 on bfg drag radials with a 2.07 60ft you will never hook the car with the dinky stock tires

those who hit 14's did ya used race gas at the drag strip? cause at great lakes drag way they offer 110 octane and its about 10 bucks a gallon if i remebered i think its imposible to hit 14 if dont have good set of tires.
Tried mine last night with Injen Axle back and Flash. 15 flat at 94. 2.3 60' shows where I need most work. Stock tires and pressures. Have stickier autocross tires I may try next year when mounting them for next season.
Hi guys, this is an old thread but I just wanted to chime in about shift points. It seems like quite a few people are shifting at or before redline. The quickest times will actually come when you shift immediately before the rev limiter kicks in. Even if you are losing power from say 6700 to 7100 you will be making way more power at 7100 in third versus 5500 in fourth. Highest average power is the name of the game, don't worry about running into redline it will not hurt this motor.
My times from last night... Stock weight, quarter tank of V-Power, stock all-season michelins, stock tune, stock exhaust, Hasport lower motor mount (Race), Tein lowering springs, custom intake system (HPS silicon elbow, K&N drop in, lower resonator replaced with TRD velocity stack), sea level, 80%+ humidity, low teens celcius temps. 7k upshifts and nasty wheelhop preventing any attemps of a real launch!
Best 2 runs with warm engine (15x degrees f) worsts ones with engine at operating temps and girlfriend riding all along!
MArko!
