After I saw this, I think about doing customize full catback. 2 1/4 inch should be perfect for me. According to Wikipedia, If the pipe is too large, the scavenging effect will suffer at low rpm.
With good turbo kit, it's still possible. If the exhaust pipe is too small, you get tons of torque at low rpm but the engine will lose some needed HP at high rpm. To get the most HP out of engine, bigger exhaust pipe will help in this case.
That was my point. That table is a poor representation of what size exhaust to use.
