Gas fuel door broken ( plastic or metal clip )

    Hi guys,

I need help with my 2012 civic EX coupe. Last time I opened the fuel door, without even forcing it, the little clip broke. Now the fuel trap remains open all the time so I need to change that.

Not really sure what I need to change ? My honda center at my hometown told me I need to change the cable of the fuel door. Is that correct ? Is it hard to do ? didn't find videos on youtube on how to change that, all the videos I have found are video about the fuel door being stuck, not broken open.

    If this

is the piece that's broken, it looks like you'll need this

    or something like it.

I'm not necessarily recommending the website in the second picture. It just happened to be a good picture.

If it was me, I'd start with College Hills Honda, a vendor on our site.

I believe the part you are looking for is https://www.hondapartsnow.com/genuin...0-ts8-a01.html

This cable is used to open the fuel door and trunk. This is a common issue that Honda can't seem to get right. I had to replace a similar cable in my 05 Civic.

The 01-05 used a steel crimp that would rust over time. My 2010s crimp was brass or similar non corrosive material.

I put a "fuel door fix" onto my 05 as preventative measure.
