Head Unit/ Infotainment System - "Application Error"

I've searched the forum and cant find any mention of my issue.

I have a 2012 Civic Coupe however i was recently attempting to connect a new device via bluetooth and the following message with the caption "Application Error" popped up on the screen:

"Application Platform.exe encountered a serious error and must shut down".

I've restarted it several times and even disconnected the battery for a few seconds since i could not locate the fuse and the error keeps reappearing. I only have access to the radio and as the error cant be removed.

Any ideas how to fix this issue?

What new device were you trying to connect? Can your old devices still connect?

You may need someone to re-flash the firmware in the head unit.

I was just connecting a new phone.

And nothing connects as the radio is the only app i have access to since the error popped up.

Any idea where i can find the firmware to download and instructions to flash it?

I've been searching YouTube but i haven't seen anything.

Call your local Honda dealership and ask them. Or just try Googling "Civic headunit firmware update" or something like that.

You're referring to the stock OEM headunit and not an aftermarket installed one? If you're speaking of an aftermarket unit - why not try contacting the manufacturer?
Ever since the advent of "smart phones", we aren't any smarter any more... we just know how to find it faster.

Guess I'll have to go to the dealer. It's a pain only having access to the radio
