Some of 'em burn excessive amounts of oil. There's a thread on this on website.

That's the only flaw I am aware of.

alot of people disappointed about the integrated exhaust manifold so cant put on an aftermarket exhaust manifold but if your looking to go turbo it works very well with a turbo application as what some have said, there is no guide for the K24Z7 engine i believe there is a book on K series engines from a few years back which will give you a good introduction of the K series engines, there is a member here somewhere that knows the name of the book

 

I know this thread is a little old butttt so we don't have exhaust headers?? Just a downpipe?

 

In the sense that your thinking as say a 4 pipes to 1,no we don't.we have one fat exhaust oval cutout right at the head.much easier to boost.but no we have a downpipe.

You can't upgrade exhaust to a 4-2-1 style header, and the stock dp has tight bends with 2 catalytic converters. Some people are seeing good gains by switching that out for a catless dp. IMO, the stock dp is most restrictive part of our vehicle.

 

Any good dp you guys would recommend

 

Just type in downpipes and go through the threads there are plenty of reviews from users with every brand dp out right now

since the K24Z series do not have an exhaust header, I have often wondered if the head can instead be ported or honed out, to increase exhaust flow.

 

You wouldnt gain much in doing so then you would have to port match the dp,possible leak,and all the work for the gain wouldnt be worth it.they did the design to compensate for bottom end torque which they achieved fairly well over previous models and in the process brought the power band a lot lower in the rpm band.that's a good thing.I don't see why anyone can complain but each to their own.

Well yes, of course people should get all the bolt ons first, but after all the NA bolt ons, then what.
The cylinder head will probably become the limiting factor at some point, porting the cylinder head and the integrated exhaust manifold might be like getting an exhaust manifold upgrade.

 

Well, if you need more than 230whp then that's where forced induction comes in. I just don't know why anyone would want to put in that kind of work. I am not sure what gains would come from porting that, but it sure would take a lot of time, work, and expensive tools.

They do burn oil but it's a free repair through honda. It's a recall. They fixed mine for free in Ontario.

 

according to Honda, no recalls on this vehicle

 

I know this is an old thread but for new visitors like myself who are doing some homework and research this is a good picture depicting the new style exhaust system/manifold/downpipe

 

I musta gotten lucky because I have the exact same amount of oil at time of oil change as when I put it in. I don't drive it nicely either.

 

Totally old thread but I feel the need to post. I'm a Tech at a honda dealer. If you're engine is burning enough oil Honda will cover a piston rebuild. It's not a recall.

 

Will I know if my engine burns a lot of oil after 53,000 KMS? I do my oil changes and by the time the next one comes by I didn't add any! Should be good? Do you know if this excessive oil burning is from the way you "break in" the engine?

Well 302 000km later, my K24Z7 doesn't burn a single drop of oil... Mfg 05-12!

However, a friend's 12 Si did burn quite a bit of oil but it stopped after having done an engine flush then switched from whatever they put in for AMSoil Signature Series Oil + a can of Liqui Moly Ceratec.. His car was built 02-12...
