    Turbo a Civic 2013 1.8 Worth It?

I want to turbo a vehicle and didn't know if the civic would be a good contender because it's front wheel drive. My 2013 Civic Coupe w/ a 5 spd is a lease but I'm not sure if I want to buy it after the lease is over or not. If this a good car to turbo I might just keep it. What I want to know is if there are any bad tendencies of a FWD turbocharged vehicle compared to a RWD or AWD vehicle. Any pointers? Thanks guys.

It depends on what your overall goal is. Understand the R18 isn't the best platform to make big power. You're looking at a motor with the potential of ~250-275whp when boosted without cracking the motor open.

The problem is not fwd the problem is there is no tuning support for this engine. The only option available for our cars is Hondata flashpro but it will probably never come out for the r18. The only downside to turboing fwd is the wheel spin you will get, if you know how to apply throttle you can minimize it. Too much power is what causes it to slip, but even if you turbo the r18 engine it probably wont even be able to make enough power to have to worry about this.
If it aint a Type R den it aint a tight car.

If you worry about takeoff, all you can do is change to wider rims and soft summer to tires.

That's some good advice guys, thanks for your input. I never would have thought there isn't much software support for it, I mean it is a Honda after all

I guess it really depends, well, right now, no. until we have a reflash it would be useless. When a flash comes out for the engine , I plan on installing a turbo on my 1.8. The cost will be around 1.2K if i install it myself. a shop to do it would probably be 2 to 3K.

The R18 has the pistons and cam to handle it no prob, from the research i have done, i would say the max hp i would put on the engine would be no more than 220. anything more than that may cause a shorter life on the engine.
