    what he said above!

if you regularly maintain your car, follow the maintenance schedule closely (doesn't have to be exact), your car will give you years of mostly trouble free service. you abuse it...you ignore things, you will have problems.

don't let dealer tell you that you need to replace your timing belt....cause your car has a chain and it never needs replacement.

    Good question.
As was said above when it leaks or starts making noise.
That said: I will probably replace the water pump in my '12 Civic at 10 years.
When I replace accessory belt & tensioner.
Honda flat rate time for the water pump is 1.5 hours.

when they say "when it starts making noise" what kind of noise? I have a SI 2012 and when I accelerate it I feel a noise like whistling.... Do you mean that kind of sound?

Have you checked for any water dripping/leaking from or around the pump?.The sound can be a mix of chirping like a belt squeak and some grinding/knocking sounds which is all a sign the bearing has gone.

I would check all of above. I didnt see my leak till i took water pump off car. The car was overheating and I replaced everything. Raditor, temp sensor, thermostat, hoses and fluid of course.

The sound that my SI has is like a whistle that you feel when you accelerate the car.
It's a whistle as if it were a little "super charger" accelerating ... to explain it in some way

Maybe this sound on my SI it's "normal"?? Maybe all the SI sounds the same way
