    my wife has the WRX and i'm always shifting into 5th gear rather than 3rd. The SI is slower, sure, but i will never miss a gear-shift. And yes, <3 Honda reliability.

    The manual suggests shifting from 1st - 2nd at 17 MPH and 2nd - 3rd @ 29 MPH. I've come to realize that it's a lot smoother at 18-19 MPH. Let me know if that helps.
