  1. 2013 civic si sedan brake problems.

    Mechanical Problems & Technical Chat
Here's my notes from another thread, on my experience/trouble/success with pad changes on my '13 si. Other thread: Brake change Link to great instructional video:
  2. What have you done to your car today?

    9th Gen Civic General Chat
Last night, I swapped in my winter wheels on my 2013 Si with brand new winter tires (Blizzak WS80's) after using my General Altimax Arctic winter tires for 6 seasons. They were losing elasticity, and were down to about 7mm. I also decided to change my serpentine belt. New one has been sitting...
  3. What have you done to your car today?

    9th Gen Civic General Chat
They were un-mounted, and I dropped them off with another car (CR-V) because my Si can't fit 8 tires inside. I'll definitely shop around next time.
  4. What have you done to your car today?

    9th Gen Civic General Chat
Finally caved and bought a new set of winter tires. I'd been using the same ones since 2013 and they were starting to suck last winter. Paid $150 at Belle Tire to have the new tires put onto my old wheels. They had to remove the old tires from the old wheels, but I took the old tires home with...

    Mechanical Problems & Technical Chat
This is for K24Z7: http://www.hocivic.com/valve_clearance_adjustment_k24z7_-1141.html Valve Clearance Intake: 0.21-0.25 mm (0.009-0.009 in) Exhaust: 0.25-0.29 mm (0.010-0.011 in) Edit: Updated link to Si (k24z7) and added specs
  7. Block Heater Cord Location (2013 si)

    Bolt-Ons and All-Motor
Sounds like you haven't used it before. What makes you so sure you have a block heater?
  8. Service Manuals

    Mechanical Problems & Technical Chat
I can't remember the name of the program/website I used, but I downloaded the entire manual. Each page is saved as an HTML file, and the hyperlinks all work. I posted this in September, so I'm kinda surprised it's still up.
  9. Gears not catching

    Drivetrain Problems
You're saying that the shift lever goes fully into the "selected spot" and stays there without engaging the gear? Sounds like a bad interaction between the shifter assembly and the gearbox. I would start by checking the shifter area, since you said you replaced that. Make sure the bushings and...
  10. Service Manuals

    Mechanical Problems & Technical Chat
Hey I don't know if this has been posted already, but I stumbled upon a website hosting what looks to be the full service manuals for free, at least for the '12 and '13 models. Just FYI: Honda Civic owners & service manuals, user guides
  11. 3rd gear popping out when

    Mechanical Problems & Technical Chat
Could be an exhaust leak causing the run on sentences, not sure about the popping though Edit: Actually, the more I read the original post, the more I think this is all delusions caused by an exhaust leak.

    Drivetrain Problems
What climate do you live in? I live in Michigan where it's snowy and therefore a lot of salt will get up into your underbody and brakes. My factory rear pads were changed somewhere around 50k miles, and I didn't do them right. I didn't sand away the rust beneath the brake hardware/clips, and the...
  13. Back to Stock Rear Motor Mount and VERY pleased

    Si Only
Did anyone who upgraded the lower mount hang onto their OEM and want to sell? I threw mine away a long time ago.

    General Maintenance
Here's the video that taught me most of the important things left out in other videos:
  15. Brake change

    General Maintenance
I've been messing around with my brakes a lot lately (2013 SI) and I think I could probably open a brake shop now with all I learned. Regarding your pins bolts, the factory torque is 17 on the rears and 25 on the front. They're not on there very tight, but if you live in the rust belt like me...
  16. Blown Motor?.

    Mechanical Problems & Technical Chat
Not sure if our cars have piston return springs, but here is a video of replacing them: Otherwise if it's valve springs, that's probably a more time-intensive job. Either way, I agree that you should try to get your money back or get Honda to cover it. Don't they have any kind of limited...
  17. Front axle

    Mechanical Problems & Technical Chat
Did you perhaps collide with a box of cinnamon graham crackers?
  18. 2013 si towing hitch?

    9th Gen Civic General Chat
I also have the Curt hitch on my 13 Si. Installed it myself a few years back, after my Yakima roof rack failed to keep my 2 kayaks on my car any longer (on the highway). Thankfully nobody was hurt. It could have been a LOT worse. The hitch + trailer method was definitely the way to go for me...
  19. Wood Trunk Flooring

    Interior mods
What about big sheet(s) of paper, maybe taped together if you can't find something wide enough. Get it into the trunk, unroll it and push it into the corners, and then mark the entire edges with a marker. But if you ask me, you'll just be asking for termites!
  20. Moog Bushing Broke

    Mechanical Problems & Technical Chat
Just wanted to update here since this was my thread. I've changed my moog bushings out for the zerk-fitting type. Not sure how long the brackets will last, but I'm suspicious the moog bushings were binding up, and that's what caused the break. At least this way I can lubricate them more...
