Read the complete 2012 Honda Civic Recall story at AutoGuide.comHonda announced today that it will recall 50,000 2012 Civics because the driver’s side driveshaft might have been improperly assembled possibly allowing it to separate from a joint while the car is running.
Should the issue arise, the engine wouldn’t be able to move the car in any gear. Affected cars might also roll away while parked if the parking brake isn’t engaged.
So far, there haven’t been any crashes reported, but the company is calling for the vehicles to come back for inspection. Despite being one of the most popular cars in America, the 2012 model year was generally criticized by automotive journalists and got an unfavorable review by Consumer Reports. The interior was a sticking point for many reviewers, though we didn’t agree with, at least not wholeheartedly.
If you own one of the affected vehicles, expect to be contacted by Honda and told to bring your car in for service free of charge.
