Agreed.It should be straightforward
True enough. All starters will fail at some point just a matter of how many times you start. Idk if there’s a way to find out through the pcm
Curious what was your car's symptom?I replaced the starter motor on my 2012 Accord EX-L last year right around 180k miles. While researching how to replace it myself I also got the impression this is a pretty common issue on Civics and Accords.
Thank you very much.It started off with slow cranking, as if the battery was low, and this went on for about a week or two. I had the battery checked and it came back good. Next was just no cranking at all. I had a mechanic friend test the starter and it was bad. Replaced it myself, which was pretty easy. It took about an hour or so total time.
For a "common issue" 180K miles is isn't too shabby.last year right around 180k miles............pretty common issue on Civics and Accords.
No, I didn't get an OEM starter. I found a Bosch starter motor on RockAuto for around $160. Exact fit and haven't had any issues with it.Thank you very much.
What you describe is exactly what is going on with my 2012 with 52k miles.
Curious did you get an OEM starter?
