I struggle to put put it in first or any gear when stopped if I try reverse makes grinding sound. Also once in a while when at a stop an in first gear car stutters like if clutch ain’t working idk what’s the issue.

That said sounds like the problem could be in the clutch release system.
Check the clutch master cylinder fluid level.
If it's low could be a leaking piston seal
or internal leak of the clutch delay valve.
How "tight" should the AT dipstick be when seated? My son's seems to just fall into the opening. I don't feel a rubber-to-metal snugness, no slight bit of restriction as it goes into the transmission. Do I need a new dipstick?
