Does it stay on if you swap them back? The options I'd see for the issue would be dealer reset or if you can swap just the airbags from the seat then the car would have the original airbags in the 15 seats. You can't do the paper clip trick in the 9th gens anymore.

 

I havent tried hooking the ild one back up yet i think ill do that in the next few days. Swapping out the airbag components would be a major pain in the @ss i hope i wouldnt have to do that. Im also worried if i have to go to the dealer to reset it it would somehow mess with the factory warranty i have left on it.

 

Switching out seats to something that is oem wouldn't void your warranty. They wouldn't cover if you cut any wires but a reset of the light they will do for a fee.

 

I had my battery unplugged the entire time i swapped them. The seats were a direct swap and the wiring plugs all matched up, so i didnt think id get the airbag light. But unfortunately i do.

Are the black seats and red seats' airbag systems different in them even though theyre both out of the coupe and the wires are the same?

Black vs red seats is not the problem, it is whether ODS* parts are same; part numbers must match.

The passenger seat has an ODS unit that communicates with the main SRS unit.
If the parts are the same, which likely is not the case.
The least that must be done is a calibration of the existing seat.
A dealer can do this calibration, or a person with HDS software and Honda Interface Module.

Since you have both seats, find the ODS unit part numbers and compare.
If they do not match. I would install the original ODS unit and see if the system will calibrate.

Has anyone confirmed if the air bags work in a worst case scenario? Personally I would not take that chance to find out the hard way. I've also read that the seat swap should be done with the battery disconnected, but I'm not 100% sure because I have not done this. Probably won't won't either because I prefer the safety aspect of things.
