What would be a sweet/creative i-Mid wallpaper? Interested in what ideas there might be, and I haven't seen a thread about this so I thought I'd start one. Post your ideas!

at my IMID site imid
Greatest Christmas music of the 20th century.
The best imid wallpaper is mine because it's a shot of my lovely wife in all her glory.
What's wrong?
The ratio is approximately 15x8. Since it's such a small screen, a standard 640 by whatever works for a 15x8 ratio is fine. I've done images up to 1500x800. Bigger images take longer to download.
It works on LXs. I had some issues figuring it out, myself. Check out the link Paul posted.
That's cool.
I think I wouldn't mind seeing a larger version of this one.

Check your picture size, make sure its 1920x600. Get a USB and put your picture in there. Connect your USB to the USB port in your car. Go inside your car and find the import wall paper option and select your picture. Make sure it's not in a folder. You can check the owners manual for step by step directions.
1920x600 is the maximum size the imid will take. You can use any size below that, even if the aspect ratio is not exact.

In fact, smaller images will upload faster, and no resolution will be visibly lost due to the small size of the screen.

My current imid screen is my sig pic which is 500x300, or some such, and it looks as good in the imid as a larger picture.

So, if I had to pick a size, I'd say anything with a horizontal of between 500 and 1500 will work and look good.

You can use any of several programs to crop and resize your pictures. I like Paint Shop Pro the best, but am using Paint.net lately.

Newest one (looks much better in person):

I wanted to see for myself the actual size, and aspect ratio of the screen, as I want my images to fill the screen to the usable edges. I took out my tailor's tape to actually measure the screen. I put up one of the blue screens so I could see the edges of the image. The glass over the screen is tilted so measurements are as close as I could eye-ball without removing the glass. The available screen image is 11cm x 6 cm.

So any image I use has to be re-aspect ratioed to 11 x 6, in whatever size the image happens to be.

For instance, the above image started as 1930 x 1200. I opened it in PSP and resized it down to 1920 x 1047, which is 11 x 6.

Now, because the image doesn't need to be so big for the small imid screen, I down sized it to 500 x 273, which is still 11 x 6. Making the image smaller allows it to upload and save faster with no visible loss in sharpness or quality, again, because of the small size of the imid screen.

Then I tranferred it to a flash drive, plugged it into the car, and followed the screens.

HTH.

I have given up on imid wallpaper. Every time I put something there I get tired of looking at it, and would rather see the song that's playing from my ipod, anyway.

Guys, I have an announcement.

I have found an image that is just so good, that I have loaded it into my imid.

Cropped and rotated for my, and your, viewing pleasure.

I can't stop looking at it. Which I hope doesn't become a problem while I'm driving. haha

I still can't get my wall paper to work. It either says too big so I go resize it and it just say it doesn't work.

I have it on my thumb drive.

What am I doing wrong?
Is it in the root menu? It has to be in the root menu.

Or you can make your own using Paint Shop Pro or Photoshop, or any one of who knows how many others.
Summer's 840x468 is a good moderate size, but it doesn't need to be exactly that size. It is that ratio, or approximately 11x6, with the 'across' dimension a maximum of 1920, which, btw, is way bigger than it needs to be for such a small screen.

I have used pictures with an across dimension of between 400 and 500 with results indistinguishable from larger images.
