***NOT SURE IF POSTED IN RIGHT THREAD OF FORUMS***

I am a volunteer fire fighter, and in my state i am aloud to have a front facing flashing blue light. my plan was to wire the light to this switch (from the interior illumination kit)

to the left of the steering wheel in the empty switch spots.

But the problem i am having is that the back of the switch is a plug and play harness connection. not a normal switch where you just connect the POS. and NEG. wires like so ...

my question is if anyone know any possible way i can hook my light up to this switch the way i want. i tried calling honda and asking for the harness but no one has any idea what im talking about when i ask for a harness... If anyone knows someone that works at Honda and can get me a part number for the harness I need , or a link to a site I can buy/look up the part number that would be great!!! any input would really help me out !!!

Thanks so much!!

I've seen a website mentioned on other threads that you can buy connectors for different things, but I don't remember where. Sorry. Since no one else has replied with an answer and you haven't posted that you've found something, I'd assume that you haven't wired it up yet?

Edit: after doing some searching, I came across this schematic here: http://www.collegehillshondaparts.c...2dr-si/ka6mt/accessories/ambient-lighting-red There is no part number for just the harness that you're looking for. I would imagine that the following would allow you to do what you want: 1. Buy the entire ambient lighting kit, 2. toss the switch assembly because you already have one, 3. ditch the three (?) LEDs that come with the kit because you won't be needing them, 4. cut the connectors off the harness for the LEDs, 5. splice in the positive and negative wires from the blue lights you want to install in the front grille, 6. install switch and connect to fuses as shown here: http://www.collegehillshonda.com/instructions/civic/2012/4dr/ambientlightsi.pdf. That is, if the harness connectors for the LEDs has a positive and negative wire. Also, this will only turn the lights on but will not pulse them like a legitimate emergency vehicle unless the ambient light kit does that in the Civics (I don't know because I didn't buy the kit and have never seen it in use in person).

On that note, even though you say you're allowed to have blue lights on your personal car, I would strongly recommend not doing the install. Why? Because as a Police Officer, I have seen a number of people put red and/or blue lights on the front of their cars "for shows." All it takes is one time of you running late to whatever your day job is for you to hit the blue lights to make the slow car in front of you to pull over out of your way and you're looking at a felony. Just my $0.02 though.

Hey guys sorry after continuously checking to see if anyone ever replied back to find nothing I just have up on the tread. Only till just now when I saw my thread got a bump and had a few replys. I did get around to installing them but did it my own way. In stead of using the correct wire harness, my friend bent a wire connector around the prongs on the back of the switch and it looks like a charm!!

when I get home from school ill post some pictures of the car!

That's cool that u figured it out... As for me I don't runlights on my pov anymore... If we run em were suppose to have full 360 degree lights and siren and I ain't putting cash into that... Course when I'm called in I'm usually headed to station to get my rig... If I am sent to a bad scene in my pov I get police escort... Makes me feel like a vip...lol... But as a vol fireman most of time mmembers are sent directylly to scene or at least round here so I can see how u might need em. The blue is def. Plus as people pay more attention to them... It's illegal for anybody but cops to have blues here...

i went to my honda dealer when i was trying to find my wiring harness ... they pulled up the interior illumination kit i was talking about in my first couple of posts. and told me they DO NOT sell the harness separate because on the part catalog it didnt have a number next to it.

so if you want the correct harness you are gunna have to buy the whole kit and throw it out ... or find a totaled civic from a junk yard and take the harness out of that car. ( the VSA switch has the same harness .. i tried it out on mine)

Definitely illegal, but I can totally imagine someone abusing this with red and blue lights to pull someone over or get someone to change lanes. Someone can really pull this off if they wanted to.
