I lost one of our keys (2012 Civic LX) and I'd like to know other user's experiences for finding an inexpensive replacement.

Is it true that I MUST go to a Honda dealer for the key and/or final cutting/programming?

Is there any web site that can supply a complete key if I give them the codes and/or VIN?

I've found one web site (www.ikeyless.com) that says they have the key/FOB blanks for sale. Do these work, and are the Honda dealers willing to cut/program them?

Thanks,

Gene

The problem with any "High Security" key is it has to be cut & programmed, by an authorized locksmith or Honda/Acura dealer.
I got a quote from a local smith of $60, plus price of the key. I ended the conversation there.
Using my contacts and privilege I got the cost down to $50 a key...

Your best bet is to cajole the dealer you bought the car from; they might cut you a better deal than straight up retail.
