Before starting..put tape in front of your heater controls and on the panels all the way down to your shifter... it will prevent from scratches while you work.. trust me.. FOR THE RADIO... its a 2008 Honda Accord Harness..make sure you wire your radio harness to the accord harness before you go take the dash apart.itll make things run smoother.... I stripped no wires, nor did i splice into anything to make my radio work! its plug and play..all wiring is done from the aftermarket radio to the accord harness..

1 .So pretty much there is two screws on top of the cigarette lighter thing..(regular phillips)... once you take those off.. remove the plastic piece that houses the cigarette lighter and aux input... pull on it softly make sure not to yank to far as the cables are connected on the backside...(Pic 1,2)
2. After removing the cables from the back of the cigarette lighter and aux.. there are two more screws which you will find under the actual radio...this are a little tougher to remove as its at an awkward angle.. but not too difficult... after you remove those 2 screws ..thats it!!! the radio is loose.. I couldnt believe how simple it was...(Same Pic 2)
3. Now Go to your dash and place your hand like behind the steering wheel over the top.. youll notice there is a nice gap there that will let you take a firm grip of the dash piece..pull slowlyy.. the dash piece is all clips..(pic 3)

4.there are TWO connectors on the dash piece...one on the far left right behind the ECON button ( pic4) and then the other is on the opposite side on the right...same position... (pic5).. after you remove those two you can remove the dash piece and place it somewhere safe..

5. This will now expose the left side of the radio... again softly pull either from the top left of the radio or the bottom left... the radio has about 7 clips so be gentle.. and be patient!!! you dont want to break any clips anywhere!.. (PIC 5 & 6)

6. Plug your harness in and there you go... make sure your car is off while you do all this... I was able to do this without blowing any fuses.. my imid still functions perfectly fine..(Pic 7 , 8 ,9)

I will be updating when i receive the rest of the parts and finally fully install radio... any questions let me know.. glad to help

By the way DO NOT GO OUT AND BUY THOSE THINGS ON THE LIST... I DO NOT KNOW IF THIS WILL WORK YET...ONCE I TRY IT I WILL UPDATE AND LET YOU GUYS KNOW IF ITS SAFE TO DO IT..

WHAT I DID WAS BUY THE RADIO PANEL THAT COMES ON THE CARS WITH NAVIGATION LIKE THE EX-L AND THE STOCK RADIO BRACKETS FOR THAT AS WELL.. I CANNOT CONFIRM IF IT WILL WORK YET BUT I HAVE A PRETTY BIG HUNCH THAT IT WILL.
got a finished shot yet? can't wait to see it!

Naa not yet... I get the parts either tommorrow or monday..So not till then... but I got a whole set up to do including speakers and ampss...so ill be taking pics of everything as i go along...

PS.. that toy car has been with me since 07! Thats a civic Type R
So the i-MID screen still works properly without the stock radio? Any "error" displays when you switch to whatever source? Or only the (i) and Menu buttom are operative to the i-MID?

There is was no error messege on the i-mid screenn... I was so excited about the radio working i forgot to attempt to look it up on the i-mid screen... but will definately re-check.... most definately no error messeges though..i also had the brake bypass wired into my harness.. and no errors.
I have a question. Seems like you are using the harness's DIMMER wire (orange/white) to connect to the ILLUMINATION wire (orange) on the radio? Is it a correct arrangement? And the i-MID would bypass the stereo screen, right?

Yes i noticed that too.. when i came to the orange wires it was either connect the dimmer or the illumination wire..in the past i have always connected the illumination and not the dimmer..but on the avh harness the wire was orange with the white stripe too...i figured id just go along with it and would switch if it did not work...could be a mistake though..it did work fine though... but i will not know until i do the full install..because that was more of a plug and play practice run i did yesterday... all the audio was coming out nice from all speakers, aux input was operation and so was usb...video was operation and so was touchscreen... no error messeges from the car as stated before... but ill make sure to adress all your points when i do the full install... good eye by the way!!
Oh and for the second question what do you mean the I-mid will bypass the stereo screen?
do you mean if the radio will just not be present on any of the I-mid slides??
Yea I mean it will only have wallpaper, blank, trip meter (no radio) now?

I think for the wiring, some headunits uses + and some uses - for dimming. DIMMER and ILLUMINATION wire does the exact opposite, so I think it needs to be more careful on this. Should read what the radio says about wiring though.

yeah..i understand.. ive done music install myself in all my vehicles.. but i dont think pioneer would put an orange wire with the white stripe unless it was meant to be connected to the dimmer...if when i install i notice something off... then i will switch.. but i doubt everything would have worked if i wired wrong... as for the I-mid i stated in my previous post... i was so busy paying attention to the fact that the radio worked ...that all i did was pop up the picture on the I-mid screen and take a pic so you guys could see... i did not scroll through it (which was very dumb) i just saw it had no errors..took a picture of the screen and thats it lol... but like i said i will definately update you on that prob monday or tuesday maybe sooner..
Awsome can't wait to see it all done. Cross your fingers for no error messages. Does you steering wheel audio controls still work and what about the aux ports and usb port in center console do they work with the new radio?

I have confirmed the parts arrived today at my house..but sadly im at work...in order to maintain your steering wheel controls...you need to purchase a unit that lets you do so... they run about 40-50 dollars on ebay..the unit depends on what radio you have... check crutchfield for that... i think the brand on the one i need is PAC...i will add that unit after i install my radio...didnt want to go allout before i figured out if it all works...
i will be attempting the Install TOMMORROW..will keep you guys updated..
AVH2300 on the LX

alright guys the deed is done!!!! awsome news!! it does work!!!
I was able to mount the stock brackets from the stock Navigation unit which i ordered offline onto the pioneer avh 2300....then screw that into the center panel that comes on the civics with navigation ...which i also ordered online...and then everything lines up and clips in and i am able to use the original screws to screw it in from the bottom of the radio... difficulty 1-10 ... about 2-3... i have pics but im at work right noww.....but if you guys want to do it ...go for it...

as for the I-mid...no errors.. but the radio slide is no longer present...
the stock usb input works for the imid but does not hook up to the radio anymore...

the avh2300 has auxilary input and usb so thats no issue for me...

as for any gaps... no gaps.. looks flush stock.. You do need to have the decorative panel for your new radio though.....

pretty much behind the stock radio, there are 3 harnesses.. the big main one.. which are pictured (has all the speaker wires on it) and then two others... those two others are now just hanging out back there... so im sure if you find some kind of adapter for those you might be able to hook them up and have the imid function perhaps...

any specfiic questions let me know...I also installed the rear deck speakers....if you want help with those let me know...its just such a pain to take pics while your concentrated on doing something... but pm and i can walk you through it difficulty from 1-10 on rear speakers ... id say 4-5...just becaue you have to remove a few things but its doable and should take you no more than 30 minutes... Ill do a DIY but no pics yet..

i was so pumped everything lined up correctly... honestly it was easy as 1 2 3.....
Lol, I know man I was just messing with you. I think im as excited that you got done as you are. Thats the best part that it fits flush.
So do you think any double din will work then?
How much were the parts
Have heard some cars require to leave the stock radio hooked up behind the dash or elsewhere? Is this not true for the civic? Also what model civic do you have?
