Escort or Valentine, I have an Escort 8600 and its saved my bacon more than once in my Mustang which has exceeded the speed limit in some form everytime I have turned the key for the last 2 years.

Keep in mind that they do not protect you very well from laser and can still pop you with instant on. Or worse, if you live in Virginia or work in DC ( Like I do) they are illegal there.

The grocery store method will work in determining whether your detector picks up that particular band, X-band or K IIRC. Keep in mind that your local PD/County or State officers may use different bands. For example CHP here use KA and LAPD since upgraded to some kind of laserlyte system which rendered my older Passport Escort obsolete for city driving. I'd consider a v1 because you can upgrade them.

I just got pulled over in DC yesterday, by get this, the Secret Service in front to the White House. I was let off with a warning that "It would behoove me not to pass a marked police car that is already doing 40mph in a 25mph zone" I shit you not. My 4th warning here soo I think I will be using Metro more.

How do you not get a speeding ticket? Dont speed or at least dont do more than 9 over and stay out of the left lane.

Back to the topic, if you live in a police state like VA/DC that has ridiculous speed/red light cams check into a detector that can down load live time traffic cams.
