CALIFORNIANS
BE VERY CAREFUL OUT THERE!
THE LOS ANGELES TIMES HAS AN ARTICLE ON THE SUBJECT: "FLOORING IT ON CAR FINES".
PASS IT ON TO YOUR FRIENDS AND ACQUAINTANCES!

Subject: Important Notice: HUGE California Traffic Tickets Fines Effective 01/06/2012

Please be extremely careful in your driving and car registration & insurance matters. State of California is broke and they are trying hard to squeeze all of us hard to collect money. Effective immediately, if you do not stop at the red light, be ready to pay $436 in fines or if you pass a school bus with flashing red signals, you will be charged $616. The state of California is going for blood, so be extra careful in driving, You cannot afford messing with them. I have been hearing that Highway Patrols are under pressure to issue a lot more tickets than last year with at least 30% increase in fines over 2009, so beware of radar guns, highway and traffic cameras installed everywhere and the tougher enforcement of parking rules.

Just for your info, the next time you park in the handicapped zone, even for a minute, you will be looking at almost $1000 in parking tickets, so it'd better be worth it.

California needs money, so pay close attention to the rules of the road!

Up in Redding the cops were busting 1000+/ week on red light violations at just a couple intersections. I know the officer who reviews that stuff. He tries to be lenient on the ticket writing because those cameras are so sensitive, people who were not breaking the law were getting photos.

This is bs.

I respect law enforcements purpose but this is too far for traffic laws.
No license, insurance, registration, handicap, both ears covered..things like that, yea go ahead.
Common sense & responsibility people.

But I bet at least half of the law enforcing officers who are enforcing this fail to comply themselves.

Got a ticket in the mail last year for a making a incomplete stop while making a right hand turn at a major intersection. Total cost with traffic school was about $550. Thought about fighting it thinking it was only photos. In actuality, there was a full video of me, lol.

Instead of fixing the problem, which is a hugely inefficient government, they are just passing on costs to the taxpayers. Almost all of my aunts family works for the government and they always say, "If you want a job you can't get fired from, get paid more than you're worth, and barely have to lift a finger - work for the government". I worked for a city once and it was ridiculous how inefficient it was. Someone got a DUI in a city truck on the job and all they got was a verbal warning! That guy should have been fired!

Thanks OP.

BTW, just letting everyone know, this is FYI thread, not a bash on California thread, which I know this will lead to. I'll allow this thread to be opened as long as it is not bashing or trash talking about California. Thanks.
