I've got a 2012 LX. Money is very tight and I'd like to try to repair the alternator if I can get more info. I see that there are alternator repair kits for $25-$50 out there, but no luck for anything that claims to be compatible with the 2012 LX.
I'm sure the reason alternators go bad over time is due to corrosion, build-up of crud, bad/worn bearings and connections going bad.
After a bit of initial research, it appears the parts inside the alternator can be replaced inexpensively -- if you know what you're doing and what to look for, and I don't know either of those.
I'm hoping this post can yield some good insight into the matter.
On a side note as a secondary plan, I'd like to check my local LKQ for any cars with an alternator that would fit the 2012 Civic LX. How do I determine if there are any vehicles with a compatible alternator? It's only $36 from LKQ if I can locate one that I can use, which would be great! 👍
Thanks in advance. This forum has always been super helpful in the past. Hopefully this time will be no different. 🙂
