Jerky/shudder CVT is drving me CRAZY..and recourse??

Yes the low speed surge you re experiencing I also believe is normal, caused by the simulated downshift of the CVT. The other issue may not be CVT-related. There could be some slack in your drive train, which is taken up again when you hit the gas pedal again. Its not uncommon in many cars. You might make sure your motor mounts are OK too. They're not very good, and some slight engine movement on deceleration followed by acceleration could feel like what you're experiencing and could also cause the sound you are hearing. Based on your descriptions, I don't think you have a CVT problem.
