First off, I'd like to say that I really enjoy this forum and the helpful members on here. Thank you to everyone who shares their projects, tests, results, and opinions for everyone to benefit off of. This forum has been a huge help to me making decisions on which way I want my build to go.

Now for a brief run down about myself. My real name is John. The name OJ Juicizzle comes from my first place of employment. I worked at a pizza restaurant in high school and there were two Johns. I was oven John or OJ and that was my nickname the entire time I worked there. OJ quickly turned into Juice and then OJ Juice and then OJ Juicizzle by one of my fellow co workers. It got so bad that even people I didn't work with called me OJ Juicizzle. So yeah... I went with it lol

I recently just graduated college with a bachelor's in mechanical engineering. I'm just starting my career at 24 years old.

Enough about me. Lets talk about the reason you are here.

I bought my civic with 31,000 miles, bone stock. This is my first build. I've had a car for about every year I've been driving (bad luck) and I'm tired of buying other people's problems. Now, if there is a problem, I will have no one else to blame but myself.

The car now has 59,000 miles on it and I'm ready to start my build.

The only aftermarket parts on the car are SKF wheel bearings, KN drop in filter, Buddy Club short shifter, Skunk 2 magnetic engine and trans plugs, and Skunk 2 Battery tie down.

The reason I started this thread is so I can have a sense of time of the build, track my progress with the build, share my progress, get suggestions, and look back and say, "Oh I remember when I did that."

I am currently planning my build and saving up for all of the components. Here is a little spreadsheet I made to estimate my cost of what mods I had in mind:

Text Blue Font Line Number

I have a lowering kit that is awaiting install:
Truhart struts
H&R lowering springs
Rear Dorman camber arms

Winter's in Indiana are unpredictable so I'm waiting until spring since this is my daily. I'll be starting a new job in two weeks. I currently drive 30 miles in 50 minutes to work but the new job I got I'll be making a lot more and it is only 4 miles away from home and I can get there in 7 minutes. The money that I'll be saving in gas will be going towards this build. I'll also be saving throughout winter so that I can buy everything in April.

Thanks everyone!

Looks good, keep us updated on the progress.
The acuity shift kit comes with base bushing so you can knock $29 off your spreadsheet.

Nice! I didn't notice because I was just looking at the pictures. Thanks!
Welcome and looks like a good mod list to me. Is there something special about the SKF wheel bearings? I've never heard of that before.

I have a Hasport 62a RMM and a 70a if you're interested in either.
I was trying to track down a humming or resonating noise coming from the rear of my car. I did two of the passenger side bearing and I didn't feel good doing mismatched bearings so I did all of them. Didn't help with noise, ended up being the tires depending on the pavement. Silent on asphalt, loud on concrete. SKF is the brand, top notch bearing brand.

And I'll have to take you up on those motor mounts
I bought a Hasport 62a RMM from Jfisher. It came in today! :thumb:

nice list OJ looking forward to pics. How was the bearing install? My front driver went bad recently but luckily its getting replaced under warranty. But I have been trying to figure out replacement brands if/when another goes bad and was curious how bad the install was.
Also, I read somewhere here that the select springs don't do much if you're also using the short shifter since Acuity's shifter has a spring in the housing already. just something to think about if you haven't bought everything yet. (bought both but couldn't install the springs yet. and will probably leave it since the spring is stiff enough for my tastes)

On your list if you buy the Acuity shifter, it comes with the base bushings as was said above, but it also has a overwound spring to improve centering on it as well. Save you another 26 bux.

PM me about the shifter and I’ll send you some details to save you a couple more bux.

The shifter cable bushings aren’t included in the shifter. Depends if you want that mod or not. When you do the intake, it will be easy to get at those bushings.

Thank you. SKF is a top of the line brand for automotive and industry applications. If not, the next suggestion id have is Timpken.

The springs are supposed to make the shifter stiffer, making it easier to return to its original position. I'm not sure whether or not if I want to go this route. I figured it'd be nice to have all of the Acuity products. I think I will take your suggestion and try the shifter by itself, for now.

Thank you Daver. I will be sending you a PM in the next couple of weeks. I just ordered the Acuity CAI so I need to get my car build bank replenished! Thanks for confirming the select springs, I think I will wait on this mod. I know I want the bushings for sure and they will be installed with the intake!

I just found out from another member the transmission select springs are not part of the shifter. You may want to order them at the same time as the shifter. The shifter does have the overwound spring to improve the centering, but the transmission springs improve it more. I ordered the shifter and cable bushings, but not the springs. I’ll let you know on my thoughts when I get them installed though. I should get it when I get the CAI.
I recommend the cable bushings from acuity for sure! if you already plan on getting the ACUITY short shifter, I don't recommend the select springs for the transmission. I did, and the difference was negligible in my experience. One thing I do recommend, is the shift detent springs. Speedfactory sells them for our cars.

Now that Spring is almost here, I will share my plan of action for the nice weather. I will be moving into a new apartment in April. I mention this because the entrance is pretty steep. I have Truhart shocks and H&R springs that have been waiting to get installed... now I think I should hold off on lowering the car.. then again I'm not sure if the entrance is THAT steep. So that is a tricky one for me.. because I hate the stock ride height.

I have the Acuity intake awaiting install along with Hasport 62a RMM. I'm still getting the RV6 and will be ordering that soon (waiting to get it shipped to new apartment). Acuity intake and the catted and powder coated RV6 will be installed at the same time. I will arrange a tune at RC Autoworks in Illinois. Staying with the stock exhaust for now.

After that install, I will do the CDV delete, install ktuned cmc, ss clutch line, acuity shifter, and the acuity shifter cable bushing. I still need to order this stuff. I'm debating whether I want to do this group of parts before the intake and RV6. If I do, the RMM is getting moved to this group.

I have some taillight overlays from blue bat that are going on soon.. at this time I will debadge the 'civic' emblem off the rear, still leaving the 'H' and 'SI'. followed by blacking out with plastidip.

Those are my season plans. Thanks for reading.

Sounds like a good plan. Mainly because they're very similar to my plans lol.
