why not put a shim (terminal cap) on the post? that diehard(er) likely has the wrong size post for the terminal connection.
also that felt crap is interfering with the clearance, and not allowing the terminal connection to go further down by a couple of millimetres.
use the noco terminal spray instead...
Shims are cheap on amazon and work wonderfully.
