Hyundai claims 40 MPG's hwy on the 2011's and even more on the 2012's.
I just happened to be browsing fuelly and the stats easily show the Civic is getting far better (although the stats are for combined) and thought I'd share.

Here's direct links to the 2011 and 2012 Elantra and the 2012 Civic. Not that many 2012 Civics yet, but still they are doing much better. You actually get better calculations then the i-mid this way so if you add your car and see a difference dont be surprised.

2011 Elantra avg: 30.8

2012 Elantra avg.: 31.9

2012 Civic avg: 35.6

Other car comparisons avg. (all 2011 as of 8/8/11)
Chevy Cruze: 32.2
Ford Focus: 32.3
Mazda 3: 26.8
Nissan Sentra: 27.8
Toyota Corolla: 30.1
VW Jetta: 36.6
