I have the same issue. Have you found the solution?I have a 12 Honda Civic Si. This problem started a month ago. Every time I open the sunroof (tilt or all the way) when I go to close it all it does is make a clicking noise and I have to do the reset procedure to get it to close again. The buttons work correctly when I open it, if I press tilt it tilts. If I press the auto-open it opens it just stops working when I try to close it.
The reset procedure works to get it closed again but the next time I open it and try to close it the same thing happens.
Is there a permanent fix for this problem?
Thanks!
This reset procedure did not work. I have already tried. Should've included that in the postSearch!

Sunroof won't stay closed from the tilted position
yes, i've searched. today, i was cleaning all the extra wax from the creases around the weatherstripping. the interior of the car was hot, so i rolled all the windows down and opened the roof...all was fine. i started cleaning the remaining wax from the painted edges of the sunroof...and...www.9thgencivic.com
Did not work sadly. Might have to buy a new motor or somethingThis has happened to me, this thread helped (last comment): Tilted sunroof not closing.
From the tilted position, try holding the button instead of just pushing it to close it. If you get it to close, now try pushing the button to open (not tilt).
Ill try that thanksHmmm! Maybe disconnecting the battery?
Might be a dealer fix.. havent found a solution yeti click the close button from tilt and it comes down but it almsot gets jammed and goes back up. i ahve to hold the sunroof with my hand out the door to close it. should i bring this to dealer or is there an easy solution?
Well mine is leaking into the footwell so I'm gonna take it to a mechanic. If it's an easy fix I'll update you@TheRedMammon you think if I can hold off for now it'd be best? Or should I just go ahead and get it out the way?
I have a strange issue because if I let the car sit for 5+ hours, itll close again?? Very strange. Reset procedures do nothing. I dont have to touch it and it decides to just close laterIf it’s clicking, it’s not the motor. You either have a stuck track or bad lifter arm.
Lifter arms are somewhat easy to replace. If the track is damaged, you’re looking at a new sunroof sans glass.
