It shouldn't be a problem for a body shop that knows what it is doing. Changing color shades between years or mid year has been going on for decades. If the car is so badly damaged that the shop can't find a color code sticker, It's probably a total.
I guess what's confusing is when you go to a Honda dealer and the tell you that your paint code has been superseded by another one. Use this one they said. It's the same color. Good thing these forums exist. ?

That is strange . I never knew there was two different shades of dbp
Neither did any Honda dealership I went to. They thought I was crazy when I mentioned it. Ironic, considering Honda's website said "See your dealership for more informaton." InformationFail on that one, Honda...

While I feel like one version is definitely more of a flat blue/teal color, and one is more blue blue and has a lot more depth to it, I can't for sure comment, as I don't think I've ever been able to park my car (which the window sticker says Dyno Blue Pearl II) next to one I could CONFIRM was the original, I'm still not 100% sure.

What I AM 100% sure of is that the 9th gen's Dyno Blue Pearl is NOTHING like the 8th gen's Dyno Blue Pearl -which was almost greenish in a lot of light. They may all share the same name, but they are definitely not the same paint color, at all.

That's going to suck for anyone getting into a collision. As long as you know and mention this in advance, it shouldn't cause to much trouble.
Before my first 2012 Si got totaled by a stupid teenager running a red light, I got into a fender bender on black ice (I still think the stock all-seasons are shit, though). It took them awhile to get it fixed (they had part availability issues), and the paint was definitely the right color. I don't think it'll be that big of an issue, especially if Dyno Blue Pearl II is the color going forward. I would, however, be mildly interested in DBP I will be harder to obtain because it was only made due to pigmentation issues earlier.

Probably not gonna be a problem though, as body shops seem to always be able to get the paint they need, regardless of the cars age. The 'pearl' part can be a REAL pain in the ass though, from what I hear.
