When I went to hardwire my V1, I found the fuse taps didn't work. Whenever I hooked to the fuses (under the dash driver's side...I forget which one is cigarette lighter fuse...owner's manual gives diagram) the power was always live and not switched. I ended up finding some open terminals to the left of the fusebox that did in fact give me switched power. I've always used fuse taps in the past but I couldn't get them to work on this car.
Not sure if this is how you'd want to wire up your led's, but when I wired my radar detector I used a fuse tap using the fuse for the driver window. After you shut the car off and open the driver door power to that circuit is cut. If you stay in the car with the ignition off, power will be cut after 10 minutes.
