Ok, I'm really overwhelmed with a lot of information I've been reading on putting an amp & possible new
speakers in my 2013 Civic EX, while keeping the factory head unit. I'm not interested in a sub.
I've searched high & low, trust me. I've read too much & I think my brain exploded in my cranium due to the
fact that this is completely foreign to me. I have no idea what I'm doing and I don't want to mess my car up.
Of course, when I got the car, the back speakers are horrible, I can't hear them & the fader in the head unit
does nothing. I've read on here from the extremely informative *EffBee6fromthe209, that the head unit restricts
the rms to the back speakers, and even changing the back speakers with new ones at times sounds worse.
This is all understood. In the future I plan on replacing the components in the front and just getting some coaxials
for the back. Installing those seems simple enough. Its the process of putting the amp into the mix that gives me
headaches. I've read that there is a factory amp? Is there one in the 2013 Civic EX? this is confusing. If there is
how does this effect my new amp? And how do I go about wiring?
The only thing I've done so far on my road to my setup, is this: I bought this 4-channel amp
Alpine MRP-F300 V-Power Series 4-channel car amplifier — 50 watts RMS x 4 at Crutchfield.com
The only thing I want to do for now is install the amp in the car, and start getting good sound from the back
speakers. That's my main goal, and preferably achieve this without a processor. This is what confuses me,
obviously the stock head unit has no rca outputs, so I have to hook up a LOC in the back the
the head unit, right? I asked Crutchfield and they said that the amp has level outputs so I should just wire the
back speakers to the amp. But, again I've read elsewhere that it puts strain the the amp and it sounds bad, I
should just use the LOC with rca to the amp and wire the back speakers.
-Will just hooking the back speakers up directly to the amp sound good enough?
-Will putting an amp in help with the back speakers even though the power is restricted from the Head unit?
-What can I do from here, with this amp, that will give me better sound.
Keep in mind that as of right now, If I can get the amp installed and just have the back speakers sound 10%
better I'd be happier than a clown with a fart machine.
