Hi everybody. Nice to see all of the activity on the forums. We are very proud of the new civic intake designed from one of our best engineers at aFe. I am working on sponsoring this site so that i can post photos, dynos, videos, and sound clips. I hope to have the account setup properly so it doesnt get taken down. Thank you for your patience. Just to give you some history, aFe is over 13 years old now. We have a great reputation in the diesel, BMW, and sport compact markets to name a few. I have been involved in the sport compact world now for 17 years. We are also proud to produce Greddy Airinx RZ filters for Trust Japan. http://www.trust-power.com/09aircleaner/airinx_rz.html , Blitz Japan as well as for Mugen.
At aFe, we have 8 degreed engineers, we test on a flow bench, we have a Mustang dyno and recenlty a awd Dynojet. We are about 1 of 3 companies that do in-house filter production, in addition to in-house tube manufacturing, and we build our own molds. Our building is roughly 150,000 square feet and we employee 116 talented individuals. We recently released 3 new turbochargers and build our intercoolers in-house. One thing i can tell you is that we test and test and test. We are finally pleased with the results after testing for over two months. One lucky guy has been driving with the new intake for weeks now. He loves it. Loves the sound. Loves the feel. Thats what matters to aFe. The price is based off engineering hours, tooling, solidwork drawings, 3d rapid prototypes, etc. ensuring we can give you our very best. This new patent pending Momentum intake is a game changer. It's a part aFe can make without the limitiations of a tubular design intake. We can speed air up and keep it cool at the same time.
So stay tuned for audio, video, and horsepower forum members. Oh, and we dont just stop with the intake. Much more to come!!!! Thanks for reading - Ryan, Director of SBU Cars aFe

i dont recall ever hearing anything bad about AFE Takeda intakes, if i remember correctly some guys on neoncanada.com had one of these intakes and they said it was good, so imo i think that between this and the injen intake there probably will be very little to no difference between them in gains but it would be great to see someone on here test this out. I had an AEM cai on my 03 neon and it was great had a dry flow filter on it, very easy to clean and 5 bucks for the cleaner and only had to clean it maybe once a year, I have never used an oil filter so i dont have any experience with that but i imagine it is probably easier cleaning the dryflow filter

and for those people that are worried about hydrolock by the looks of the design this would probably be a pretty safe bet

Does anyone notice that the dyno chart looks like it is on 1.8l 140hp engine.
Do you notice, even though there are good gains, it does not break the 160HP mark? But then again it is on a mustang dyno so mustang dynos do read lower.

had an takeda attack cai in my previous 2010 si and was pleased with quality and performance....they are exellent

I have the Takeda SRI prototype on my 9th gen. Its well designed and AFE doesnt release a product until they are happy with the results and they get the most power they can get along with reliability. I love the deep tone it produces and and the power difference I feel over stock. Audio and video should be available soon so keep your eyes open for that.

do you need to get a tune with this?
Need is sooo subjective...However I recommend a tune with Hondata Flashpro to get the most of it.

yes. I made exactly 200hp and 170 hp tuned with vit. Edyno was done in 80degree weather. Total weath near 3300lbs. Perf Mods: takeda cai, afe throttle body spacer, skunk2 header, high flow cat, afe 2.5 cat back, vibrant resonator.

Because people talk down about it and say you won't gain any power, you just pay for the sound. Do you feel a difference at all? I'm considering buying it but I don't want to speed 300 for something that basically makes no difference.

I'll put it to you like this. If you just buy the takeda and slap it on it might sound a little cool but it would actually hurt your performance more. The most important mod is a flashpro tune. Preferably right after you slap on whatever bolt on your looking at.

Tune your car if u want gains. Noticeable gains. Search for voided warranty and you can read up on the magnuson moss warranty act. Your car can be reverted to stock with flashpro. at the end of the day after every bolt on available for these cars is installed and your tuned your only going to see a 20 to 30 HP increase. (On average don't quote me.) My car stock was edynoing around 170hp and 160 tq. Just to get the advertised HP for these cars i needed full bolt ons and a tune. And I'm not considering the RBC which isn't worth it to me.
