I don't feel mine downshift and I have a 2012. However, if you are going downhill and you hit the brakes, you will feel it downshift because of its grade assist or whatever its called. Honda's are also notorious for being hard shifting cars. Every single automatic Honda I have ever owned has shifted a little hard.

 

Odd.....7 times out of 10 I will feel my car downshift. At odd times, it will give a hard downshift.

 

Called the service manager at the dealership and he assured me this is normal.

 

They all assure its normal because they don't wanna mess with a transmission issue thats warranty. Drive a like vehicle and see if you feel it downshift hard and if it doesn't, then start complaining and demand they fix your car.

 

I've yet to experience any hard down shifting in the auto trans but wish there was a sport mode to make the shifts firmer other than just turning the econ button off to raise the shift points.

 

I feel the hard downshift going downhill and also uphill. Im sure this is normal?

 

When I let off the gas to start to slow on the highway it is not a smooth feeling. It is a jerk feeling. Kind of like my old audi when I needed new tranny mounts.

 

My car sometimes makes a noise when it downshifts. It's almost like the sound of a manual transmission car shifting.

 

ECON off or on? We've been driving our '13 EX-L with ECON on and it's been very smooth shifting. You have to watch the tach. or the video game bars to tell when it shifts. I drove it the other day with ECON and VSA off and the feel was completely different. I could feel every shift then, even being soft on the loud pedal. Sort of reminded me of our old '92 Saturn SC with the NORM/PERF switch on the transmission.

 

For me Econ mode is off.
