iMID Display Problem

There is a gray color patch in the middle of the screen. When the screen is off, there is nothing on top of it like dust or mold, its completely clean. Could this be a bad connection/signal? Or is the display panel going bad? Since the iMID shows the cars odometer can I just replace it with anther, or will I need to program in the correct milage?

Yeah 😥 the car is 7 years old and for most its life while I am at work it was parked in the hot sun, that probably caused this...

In reviewing the removal/installation of multi information display, for USA spec car.
There is no mention of the display storing mileage.
It's a simple remove these parts, remove the display.
Install in reverse order.

it can help to know where in the world you are located.
This is bit of good news! I am from Sri Lanka. So, the driver side is on the right, but still the disassembly steps should be the same.
I found a YouTube video on how to remove this iMid Display, so I know how to replace the part. 😊

But what I decided for now is to keep using this same display until and complete fails or become unreadable and then replace it. Since it doesn’t affect the drivability of the car in anyway.

Thanks very much for the information. I will do a search from ebay i suppose. Do you have any idea if this part number fits all 9th gen honda civics because my car was assembled in Thailand?
I also note that much of the dashboard had to be removed for the installation?

Regards

My car was assembled in Japan, and as I'm in Sri Lanka it's a right-hand drive model. So the US-spec iMID don't fit my car as well. What I did was I got the US -Spec part from eBay and disassembled the iMid unit and just extracted the display from it and transferred it to my original iMid unit.
I didn't take any photos of this disassembly process as I was very nervous about doing it. But I have taken an image of the old display I removed and attached it here.
There are 2 ZIF connectors for you to disconnect to get this display out.

As for the stuff, I removed from the dashboard - everything removed can be seen here, (I guess the only thing extra was the plastic cover under the driver side dashboard and the driver side A-pillar trim)

If i get you right you bought the i-mid of a left hand drive car and took out the internal components and fit them to yours which is from a right hand drive car? you are genius !!! If that is correct i am in a similar situation with a RH drive car. I did the search on ebay and all those found were for LH drive car ... i suppose all from US. Unfortunately they do not ship to Mauritius the place where i live. I will have to continue with the search. Thanks a lot for your help (y)

Just in case anyone has the same problem with their IMID and finds this post.

I had the same problem with my car, a 2014 Honda Civic EX. The screen was bad.

Since 2020 my car was sitting out in the sun all day with not much driving and one day the screen just didn't turn on; but I could still hear the sounds when I pressed the controls on the steering wheel.

After searching online and troubleshooting on my own:

If it’s a fuse or connector problem more than likely you won't hear any sounds when you press the controls on the steering wheel for the IMID.

The IMID module has three pieces: The control unit (interface with steering wheel buttons), the screen and the air bag light.

Since I could still hear the sounds from the steering wheel controls and saw the lights for the "airbag off" sign working properly, I figured the control unit was fine and just the screen was damaged.

I looked online for the part number for my car on eBay but found it a bit expensive for a used part at $87.

The part number for my Civic is 78260-TR3-A12.

I was able to find a 2013 Honda Civic Coupe and a 2012 Honda Civic LX at a local Junker and got the part for $34.

My plan was to try to see if a different part number would work, and if it did not, I was going to separate the screen from the control unit and plug it on my car's IMID control unit.

Both IMID screens from 2012 (78260-TR0) and 2013 (78260-TR8) worked on my car.

Not sure what is the difference in part number.

I found this video very helpful on how to access the IMID for my car: 2014 - 2015 Honda Civic Dash Radio Removal How To Video

I bought a windshield sunshade to hopefully prevent the replacement screen from malfunctioning.

Did you get a replacement part for it and where is it sold? Mine is gone now. I really need to know where I can get it. I have a 2013 Honda Civic, Right Hand Drive.
