Is the AUX input 3 or 4-pole?

My USB port is doing the "Bad USB Device" thing so until I can get into the dealer to fix it I'm using AUX.

I would love to be able to skip tracks with the car's buttons and I think a 4-pole, like on headphones with mic and volume buttons, would allow me to do this with the proper cable.

My AUX cable has a 3-ring (4-pole) connector but the steering wheel controls don't do anything. My wife has an AUX cable with a built-in mic and controls and they work her phone.

That's interesting. So the skip track function must be built into the microphone part.

Is the AUX input 3 or 4-pole?
