Might be looking into one of these soon. I have the K&N Typhoon intake and had planned on going the tuning route, but I realized don't want to invest that much time and money in the car at this point. I'll miss the sound for sure but maybe the drop in will be a good compromise.

Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but used the search and figured it was better than starting a new one. Just ordered one of these, Amazon.com: K&N 33-2473 High Performance Replacement Air Filter: Automotive

The car is new and only has about 1.5k miles on it, but I hope the slight mpg increase (supposedly) this will get me would end up paying itself off over the life of the car. But regardless never paying rip off prices for an air filter change should cover the cost anyway. I'm not really a DIY guy (yet) and don't have a work area that I can really use, but this should be an easy start.

Anyone else install one of these recently and actually notice anything? I've heard the sound of the car may change.

I installed one of these along with a HPS Silicon intake tube and noticed a nicer engine tone at WOT. It is worth it just not to pay the dealer to replace the filter
