[looks and sounds nasty

QUOTE=team3d;3196690]04/2016, the car is now at redline at 9000rpm and upgrade the coils from buddy club racing spec to JRZ

this car is dyno now at 320whp all motor...

also, for people that is diy this, just letting you guys know ahead, you see all the positive things about the head swap, but shops never shows you the blown motors.

there are alot more to it than just head swap, it took us 2.5 years and alot of money to perfect this swap.[/QUOTE]

Team3d what gas is that on? E85? K20z3allmotors personal car was 320 on e85 with crazy high comp. Thats to cray for me. I'm hoping to get 250 with 12:1 cp and 94 pump and call it day. Too old to chase numbers just want the car to Rev like a dohc Honda should you know.

to reach 250whp, there are several ways, but the foundation remains the same, your engine needs to flow at 375CFM

you can either reach 375cfm by ported and polish the head, or raise your rpm higher than than the stock peak. or swap a higher flow head (like what your doing now)

antonio's fb6 are running on E85, his also got a head that is bench flow at 375cfm + a 450cfm intake manifold, his also using electric water pump + balance shaft delete oil pump + under drive pulley & type r alternator pulley & many more parts i will not listed.. he reach his peak power at 8500rpm.

btw, the video is not running at 320whp, it's 280whp, 320whp is this years (2017) set up.

Well it just a number .. If I wanted crazy power I would have kept my old Evo or supercharged the 9th. Its all speculation at this point. I might make more I might make less. If i chase power it's never ending, Ill see someones chart on k20a.org and say why is he at this power ? I have the the same mods, maybe if I swap cams or change intakes .... When I talked to a dude who helped build the pirrelli world challenge civics he told me to keep it simple and call it day. Don't mess with Cam covers use the r40 gears. I tend to agree. Keep it cheap and reliable. The 300+whp k20/k24 franks typically have big cam idles, suck down e85 which is not available in Canada, have 3"megaphone drone exhausts.. my wife would kick my head through a wall and it would be the Evo build all over again but slower. The parts I've source have all been from the local scrap yards so far and that's why I like this build so far. There is a guy selling a k24z7 long block for 1200 I couldnt get a used Evo10 turbo for that price lol.

It funny when I asked a guy about a "k24z7" oil pump kit if I could do it with the motor in the car or would I have to remove the cradle and bearings. He straight up said nope it has to come out. That's when I knew this is not a job I'm doing my garage. I'm probably going to pull the motor out but that's it.

Hey team you did leave out some juicy bits that I know lots of people here are wanting to know. What Cams , manifold, exhaust ,intake , fuel pump, injectors is the car running ?

these are the combination that your shop or diy'er needs to figure out yourself, how to combo the parts to make the most of it require alot of trial & error.

when a shop throwing all these parts at you. high compression pistons, rods, cams, shave heads etc....

do they give you all the science behind it ? and did they calculate these mods will effect the timing of motor ? and estimate hp & reliability of the engine ? and the weight it might add or remove ??

it's like building a house, you can't just buy lumbers and start building, you need a plan....

at this stage, your shop looks like they are just guessing it will make power..

Hey now , I'm just trying to appreciate the setup, you posted and see what he's got under the hood. Everyone is so closed lipped about 9th gen k20/k24 swaps. For my build your right theres alot of calculation involved. And like I said I'm not there yet nor am I really trying to squeeze everything out of this. It's a street car . Cc head tech flow tests and will steer me in the right direction when we're ready. They havent told me what I would be making in power and I don't ask. It will make what it makes lol. So far what on my part list is is k24z7 rods, r40 cam gears, DC 2.2 cams , super tech springs, 3.5 custom vstack intake, PRC npr pistons stock bore, plm header, rbc, j37, type s oil pump , 3" custom exhaust, grams fuel pump, Rdx injectors, flash pro and I can't remember what bearings . It's not ground breaking stuff , there are hundreds of setups up like this. What you think 3d?Cams will definitely be the last purchase need to do a little more research and talk to people like yourself.

with basic head swap and bolt on should be in the 250-260whp at 8000rpm range

i will say rbc's cfm will not be enough to support 250whp, you will need your rbc to flow atleast 300cfm to deliver enough air into your head. this means you need to cut & port

should i keep the stock rods from the k24z7? people run alot of franks with k24a2 stock rods, but from what i am seeing the k24z2 7 are different slightly. any thoughts? builder thinks i should just replace them since the pistons have to come out anyways. Scatt or Eagle aren't too expensive but this build is adding up. any thoughts? cough cough team3d

Hi guys, Im interested in this for my car down the road, I got a question though, what would you do as far as wiring? Use the k20z3 computer? Wire in the connections for the added vtec and get a tune written? Anybody care to shed some light on this?

Thanks all

Sorry I'm a little late to the party. I'm searching for the nitty gritty details and info when it comes to the k24a2 cylinder head going on my k24z7 block. (Choosing this cylinder head for porting purposes). I understand a coolant port requires some weld to be built up and then decked and ground to match the H.G. I'm wondering what else? Any lists out there that could serve as a road map? I saw someone mention that there isn't enough room on the exhaust side for a turbo manifold and also the V.C. not fitting over a cam gear or something. I'm planning on going turbo after this cylinder head is machined, assembled, and installed.
Cylinder head is semi built.
Block is getting rods, pistons, oil pump, head studs. (Which I have none off yet)

Obviously it's a long road ahead of me, mainly financially even with all the stuff I've already gathered 🤣. Mechanically I'm not too worried about it at all, as I have a shop and most everything i need here. If not here my cousins shop is even better suited.

Any input would be appreciated. I've gone through and done most all the supporting components with the exception of a clutch 🤔
Things I do have: (wont list the stuff that isn't gonna swap over to the new cylinder head).
K24a2 cylinder head
Supertech 92lb springs
Titanium retainers
Ferra 6k series valves 35mm &30mm
Clutch master cylinder /slave cylinder
Return style fuel system
Grams fuel pressure regulator
Radium S.S. fuel filter
8an fuel line
1050x Injector Dynamics
400 deatchworks fuel pump
72 mm throttle body on stand by (currently running stock)
Skunk ultra street I.M.
Skunk exhaust all the way back
Hasport mounts (92)
🤔🤔🤔

I think you're best bet is to contact some of those guys on YouTube about their k20 head setup. I don't believe anyone here (or atleast no one publicly) has done this swap.

Don't forget to swap your oil pump. That is KEY to revving the motor higher. The OEM pump is a big restriction and weighs alot.

Nice build btw.
