Meaty Fitment / Functional Thread

I was listening to the guy who previously said 235 was proper fitment. But you're right, I used the will it fit website and the stock 225 40 on a 9" wheel doesn't even affect the speedo ... What to do??

hmm, my calculations were based off of the 215/45/17 oem size for the older Si. if you have 225/40/18 stock then 235/40/18 is really not much different and would probably look better on a 9" wheel

Hi everyone. So I picked up some 18x8.5 wheels and I don't know what to wrap them with. I was leaning to 225 40 or 225 45. I still haven't dropped the car but I do have some megan ez2 full coilovers. I want it to be functional so I hope that I posted in the right place. Thanks in advance.
What car do you have? For the earlier 9th gen Si, a 225/45/18 is way too big. 225/40/18 would be the better choice and is the stock size on the 15 Si.

you may be better off in the wheel/tire fitment thread as this thread is more specific to meaty fitments

Doesn't look quite as meaty because a 245/40/17 tire is actually shorter than the stock 225/40/18 by .4 inches. If it was a 245/45/17, there would be a noticable difference
Pretty sure he has a 2012 so 215/45/17 is stock but your point still stands. Overall the height and sidewall are close to identical to stock. Good looking setup though

your going to want to roll the fenders regardless, otherwise theres no point in buying wheels essentially
I disagree. There are plenty of people with aftermarket wheels that don't roll their fenders. If you have proper fitment and aren't slammed on the ground there shouldn't be any fender clearance issues.

Since this is the meaty/functional thread, we aren't stretching tires and running low offsets.

I'm planning to get the Megan Racing Lowering Springs (~1.3" drop). What is a good meaty setup for my car ('15 Si Sedan), that doesn't require much camber or rolling fenders. I really want 18x8.5 et35-45 (rather 45 than 35) with 245/35/18 tires. I like the meaty look and massive camber is :bleh:. I already checked willtheyfit, just need some real person advice on this.
These will be the wheels (either powdercoated or dipped a darker bronze)
(Konig Milligrams, they are a pretty decent brand from the reviews I read)

Thanks ahead of time :wigglesmiley:
IMO 245/35 is not meaty. yes it is wider but you will have less sidewall than stock. and the overall diameter is smaller than stock. maybe just go with a 235/40?

Ok so I have just got done reading every post on this thread. I have seen it a couple times but this is my current set up.

I am lowered on K-Sport coilovers
PF01 17x8 +45
215/45/17

will a 245/40/17 fit or will I need to go with a 225/45 or 235/45

I am currently running the Firestone Firehawk Indy 500s
How low are you? I think 225/45 is most functional.

As this thread has essentially become a fitment thread, a merge will be forthcoming.
Noooo, please don't. I don't want to read about all the stanced, hella flush, stretched and cambered kids...

Plus everyone here is running larger than stock tires and functional offsets, I think it has stayed on topic.
