Another Project - Reverse/Backup Camera?

Hi all -
I know mods to the new Civics are still somewhat few and far between, but this is something I'd love to see figured out.

Does anyone think it is logistically possible to add a backup camera to the license plate area of the car, and somehow modify the i-MID display to switch to that display when the car is in reverse?

I haven't opened up my dash to look behind any of this stuff yet, and probably wouldn't know what to look for if I did. But, I'd love to know if it's even possible.

If you've done this and can post pictures, I'll personally send you $1 as a thank you!

From what I see, could we complete a circuit using PIN#3 to PIN#4 enabling the "Mode select signal for rearview camera"?

Connect PIN#14 to any wire that becomes hot in R or Reverse Gear (reverse lights).
Connect PIN#19 for camera video signal.
Connect PIN#18 for camera ground.
Connect PIN#20 for camera power.

Also, just wanna make sure, we will be splicing the video wire and crimping all these wires to PINs in this project? or are there capped wires on the harness already? Wanna make sure so I can go buy Connector PINs as well.

I feel ya on that, and what were you thinking With the RCA video wire, just cutting the connection off and wiring it into the pins? 0r getting a female RCA end and wire that into the imid harness to plug the camera into?

I hope that either of those options will work.

By the way, I found two options to avoid running a coax from the back of the car to the iMID:

I purchased and tested this wireless setup.

Or if you want a wired setup, you can use a Cat5 cable and a pair of video baluns.

I have all the parts; the only thing holding me back from completing the project is my reluctance to disassemble the dash of a car with less than 2,000 miles.

ok ive pinned connectors before
but you guys are making this super confusing.

so i understand you need,
1.Backup cam
2.Wireless transponder thing
3. Pins

then what
what pins do i buy,
and how do i connect this?

it sounds super simple.
do i add pins to the connector?

where do i wire the wires.
i read the whole thread and only kinda get it.
what are the main connectors pins involved, where do i add the new pins and wires, what connects to what.
someone draw me a ghetto diagram
