Skunk2’s Tuner Series Camshafts for R18A1-based engines feature Fast Ramp and AMAX profile technology, which increases overall performance and results in unmatched response from idle to redline. AMAX technology simply maximizes the area under the lift curve but without compromising reliability or valvetrain stability. Skunk2’s profiles feature more duration than competitors’ at lifts above 1mm, resulting in greater efficiency and more power. And thanks to Fast Ramp, the same technology used in Formula One racing, seat timing is reduced, which results in additional cylinder pressure and more torque but without compromising valvetrain longevity. The Stage II R18A1 camshafts utilize the stock VTEC economy lobe. This mean you do not sacrifice MPG while cruising, your MPG will remain the same under cruse loads. The Stage II cam also provides more lift and duration, and is a drop in cam that requires no spring or retainer upgrade. To extract the utmost power a tuning device such as Hondata would be required. <--- c/o skunk2.com product description

only need a tune for unlocking all the power you can from it.

It would work but tuning would get a little more out of it. Its just a higher lift cam and has the same duration. The stock ecu is capable of adjusting about 30 percent on its own. Knock would be the other factor along with stock fuel pump capability.

EDIT: It says its for the 18a1 which is the 8th and not the 9th 18z1.

Should be the same

Yes but the ecu's and sensors are different. I still think it should work unless the cam is different too because the 9th has more compression and that would mean a more duration cam to keep the pressure the same with the benefit of higher compression.

Edit: There is also more egr and more maps for barometric changes and more fuel control compared to the 8th. I have seen the difference on the UG.

I'm gonna do this then the ktuner.Ive swapped a cam in a 2.0 VW pretty easy not to sure with a vtec Honda though.

I not doing it till ktuner comes out. And the only thing you gotta be carful of is the timing chain the rest is not that bad it seems .

I just raced a gti lol up 2 car lengths and then hit a brick wall due to car pulling timing cause of knock sensor and he pulled ahead and I lost lol just then I realized how much I need k tuner lol

Did it go into limp mode or just cut off? You can try using a octane boost like race gas or similar but it might contaminate the Cat but there should be no knock. I am not much into boosters but seen this one work on a dyno. RACE GAS | Racing Fuel Concentrate
