Credits to a fellow forum member Ace-ington who found this, thought I'd start up a topic about it...

Cold Air Intake System Takeda Takeda Intake System; Stage 2 Polished; PRO 5R; Honda Civic Si, 2012 L4-2.4L TM-1018P-R - aFe Power

Just ordered one for myself and will keep all updated. I was hesitant on the Injen and most other CAI setups since it would place the filter in a hard to reach area plus low down ie. risk of water/hydrolock, so an icebox type setup is exactly what I was wishing for.

you need to WAIT i would be willing to be if you did a before and after dyno with this intake you would be highly disappointed

Actually I believe Injen reached up to 19hp gains on their dyno tests. But they are advertising the real and consistent number for gains.

Hence Hondatas advertised gains. "up to" a certain number. If you are expecting 19whp from AFE ice box, Prepare to be disappointed.

Anytime you see a company that says whatever gains you should actually expect about half lol

Order showing as picked, so its obviously in stock, but given how far I am from CA, I'm not expecting to see it till next Monday probably. UPS ground, the rest of the shipping options cost way too much.

I'm sure the Injen is just as good if not better, but seeing how tight it is for that piping to fit and get down low, plus having the filter out of easy reach, this seems to be a much easier install and likely less problematic to maintain. Practicality wins out for me, I like being able to take it to a touchless car wash occasionally and hav it blast the underbody clean with water. I'd definitely think twice doing that with an exposed filter down low.

Ndm - just read your post... I haven't gotten an email, but I checked the order status on their site, says "Picked" which typically to me means they've picked the item off the shelf?

easy fix dude just turn your car off during the car wash problem solved

Ok - confirmed its not ready yet - 6-8 weeks.

RSX2Si... I wouldn't be so quick to judge. Plus I can't see how your custom Magnaflow is going to be nearly as worthwhile as a properly developed exhaust for the Si as far as gains go, so I'm not sure why you're even being so skeptical here. If you're so serious about the gains, then you'd have waited for a properly developed exhaust/CAI (seems like you hacked both together?!). Ever heard of the Comptech (company is now called CT Engineering) Icebox? Great gains in early TL/CLs... this design is similar to the icebox!

This intake definitely is what I am looking for. You modding pro's what are your thoughts? I like this one because of the chances of hydralock are nonexistent. SRI's ingests hot air from under the hood, but is this an over-rated topic for SRI's?

like i said before IMO this is not a CAI and IMO all this is a different airbox than stock. ya it has a smooth pipe from filter to throttle body and ya it has a cone filter but its still run like stock. very minimal gains IMO not worth $357 whatsoever. my SRI is a great sound and was a noticeable difference. But a true CAI would be better than an SRI

ok enjoy the stock life

How can you argue this is not a true cai. Just because it gets air like your stock intake? *By the filter being in a box it prevents hot air and water from getting sucked up. The intake tube and filter then creates less resistance allowing your engine to suck up more air. Not only that but the fact that the system was tested by professionals means your engine isn't going to be running lean like it would with a homemade setup with any random filter. **

hmm im going to say IMO it is more restrictive than a true CAI. you think that box isnt going to get hot? plus its not a smooth airflow its 2 seperate pipes that arent connected running in to one box just like stock. IMO (because i have to say that every sentence or people talk shit) more power comes from more air and smoother air (hence the throttle body spacer and other similar things) and IMO this intake will not give as much air or as smooth of air as a true CAI. which is why IMO it is not worth $357 and it is much more conventional to save money and still not have to worry about hydrolock by just getting a SRI...IMO

Do you notice, even though there are good gains, it does not break the 160HP mark? But then again it is on a mustang dyno so mustang dynos do read lower.

From their website:

"Uses Factory Air Scoop:
Features a one-piece rotomolded air box that incorporates the factory front air scoop that captures cold air from the front of the vehicle."

Sounds like a CAI to me. These guys are new to me, but they seem to have some happy customers with their other products. I would like to see and hear this on a customer car. I am considering this one.
