What do you guys recommend for a daily driver? I'm looking for something that sounds deep without making TOO much noise... I was leaning towards an Invidia Q300 or an Injen exhaust.

Any feedback helps, thank you!

Q300 is probably the most comfortable. Gets fun when you start driving aggressively ad when you're just cruising it's pretty quiet.

Highly suggest you pay a shop to install it. It tends to hand low so if you wanna get it to fit perfect, you'll need Torque Solution exhaust hangers and you can heat up and bend some of the exhaust mount rods to help bring the exhaust closer to the body.

As far as deep, I understand what you mean. Q300 isn't a fart can. It sounds good. Full race sounds a bit better from what I have heard in other people's cars. It is a little louder though.

I know it's never really caught on too much on this forum at least, but what about the Greddy SP? It may be sorta hard to find one now, but maybe you can find one used for sale? I had one on my old EP3 and always thought it was the best compromise in terms of sound quality and volume. No real high frequency notes kept it from sounding like a fart can, and it wasn't super noisy either when you were just driving around. The visible part of the muffler and tip were absolutely beautiful, too.

I also didn't want to drop a lot of cash on a cat back, so I tried the Injen axle back. Drone is bad 3000-5000 RPM. Really loud inside the car. And not in a good way. But other people love it. Very subjective. I'm back to stock now.

people's loudness tolerance are different. i can't handle Injen Axleback. i borrowed it from my friend and i returned it the same day.

I love Buddy Club Axleback. My Buddy Club Axleback droning @ RPM 1500-2000 and 3000-4000 other than that it's sound nice. Cold start in the morning is loud for the first 10-15 seconds.

Once you install the silencer, it's different story. It's quiet, no drone at all, a bit louder than stock. if you don't tell anyone that you change the axleback, they would not notice it. For me, Silencer Out on weekday and Silencer IN on weekend since wife and 2 kids with me on the weekend.

I know some of you guys don't want to hear it, but the inexpensive generic ebay axlebacks sound deep, throaty, not loud, and not fartcan-ricey. I can run through the gears, windows up or down, digging the sound of the exhaust, and bother virtually no one. And no drone at any speed.

Some of us got the ones made for 8th gen SIs and put 'em on our R18s. I've had two of them on two cars, and I am, and have been, very happy with them.

Scotty, when you say generic e-bay axle backs, are you saying they don't have a company name associated with them? Or they're just names no one has heard of? I tried the Injen and it had way too much drone, so I'm looking for another cheap axle back. I just want to have a little fun with it and go back to stock when I feel like it. I'll have a search on e-bay now.

I think the stock Si exhaust sounds great. I dig it on the rare occasions every time one goes by me on the road.

The stock R18 exhaust sounds like fashitz. That's why I got an axleback.

The deepest sounding exhaust on these cars you will find is Full Race 3 inch and under "normal" driving (meaning cruising no hard pulls) then it can be quiet for a 3 inch, but it is definately not quiet when you do any aggressive driving

The "best" choice is pretty subjective, but if money is no object and you're pretty handy, you should just get a cutoff valve and use an arduino to have it trigger when your TPS is over 4 volts. Then you'd have open "headers" for WOT, and an otherwise completely stock exhaust system for cruising. I would highly, *highly* recommend a tune with this kind of setup (you'll run pretty lean at WOT).

I've been debating running one of these on my own car for a while, but the Magnaflow hasn't worn out enough to bother me just yet.
