Just called honda spare parts there is no such part. He advised me to try at a later date as the car hadnt officialy been released for sale yet therefore he didnt have a parts list for that model.

Good to know! Thanks for checking for us! :D

I basically joined this forum to express gratitude to baronvonsmash and kwd9962 for your inputs. I successfully got not only the reverse camera to work for the imid screen, but also I modified it to accept the standard "yellow composite" cable so I could, really, hook anything with a video feed up to it. Eventually I'll pick up a video stream so I can just go from my android phone and output the video on the imid. I took pictures as I went through and can post a DIY, but that'll come a bit later as I'm exhausted and need to move on with my weekend. However, the short version is this: I modified the harness that you guys listed for sale so that it was basically a complete 1:1 harness (kind of an i-mid extension cord). Then I cut wires A2-A5 and A17-A20 (I think those are the numbers...I'll post for sure later), soldered 2ft wiring to the end of each and ran them behind the tach so they come out below/behind the steering wheel by the pedals. If you cut a composite cable, the video signal goes to A19 and the video ground goes to A18 (really, that's all that's necessary for a video feed via debug). Any idea what voltage is applied to what pin in order to trigger the video (the reverse lights that you tap into)? I haven't really looked all that much as I'm calling it a day, but my plan is to have a constant voltage through a switch installed in the dummy switches (above the coin holder on the left) so I can turn the video on and off using that instead of using the reverse signal.

My Brazilian Civic model has a back camera; it's actually standard on all Civic versions here (LXS/LXL/EXS). The camera lens is angled for a wide view, and it shows up in the i-MID automatically when in reverse, and it has some yellow guide lines which are perfectly aligned with the car, check the picture I took and put in my album. I thought this camera was a worldwide standard, but it seems that only a few countries have it.
I never had a car with back camera before... but now I simply cannot live without it! It's awesome!! :Banane08:

Bahhhh realized that the reverse circuit goes to A14...which I didn't run an external wire to. Means I need to tear the dash apart again to get behind the iMid. The fruits of impatience :)

So questions:
1) What's the voltage into the reverse lights?
2) Do all the camera modes use the yellow lines?

I'm thinking if one of the camera modes doesn't use the yellow lines, I'll hook a constant 8v to the signal for that mode so it's permanently line-free.

Ok so I hit a little roadblock. I'm not using the Honda camera but instead I'm more interested in using the composite video (to expand so that A) I could use side cameras too since visibility on the sides is poor and B) I'm a nerd with too much free time). I think that another signal is needed in order to get it to kick into "camera mode" besides the feed into the reverse light. I reopened the dash and ran a line from A14 on the back of the iMid (the pin for the reverse signal)...hooked it directly to the reverse light in the back and threw it into reverse. Unfortunately there was no dice. So as it stands...I can get a video feed to go through but only using the camera option in the debug screen (which doesn't let you do anything as far as the yellow lines). Anyone have any insights into all the signals that might be necessary to get it to flip on using the reverse? I'm thinking something along the lines of the iMid also may need a signal to confirm that the camera is in fact powered...or something. At a loss since wiring schematics definitely won't show logic control.

It's complete garbage that HID headlights is not an option from Honda on the U.S./Canadian Model. As well as the backup camera and mirrors w/ integrated turn signals. What would be the harm in at least selling the parts to us?

Do you have a wiring schematic? Or are you just going by the contents of this thread? If you have one, can you post it? I am ready to order a camera and have extensive automotive wiring and electronics experience and plan to jump into this so maybe I can help.

The forum seems to not want to allow me to upload anything of any usable filesize. But anyway, I've been using information from the forum matched with what I've found in the iMid harness run list for the CRV. I figure if Honda is frugal enough to ditch our backup camera to save money, they'll probably make things semi-modular to keep costs down, too. I'm not an auto-junkie (particularly with the electrical side). I'm a mechanical guy with experience with ion implanters...so any help here is appreciated. If we could get what signals are necessary to get the imid to kick on the camera mode...we'd absolutely be all set here. SO CLOSE.

Edit: Also note that the camera-relevant wire run is under the non-navigation section (scroll down a little).

So those of us with the nav system might have another option that is both easier and harder at the same time. Easier because you only need to tear apart half the dash (as opposed to pretty much the whole thing to get to the iMid). Harder because you need to be somewhat skilled with a soldering iron. The outside US hondas have a separate hookup for a camera on nav systems (also, I think the CRV and maybe some others here in the US). The connections are there but the actual connector is not. If you go into the nav diagnostic screen, you can see an option for camera that is grayed out. Also, there is a logic indicator for when your car is in reverse. To get to the diagnostic screen on nav systems:
1) Start the car (obviously)
2) During the BS confirmation screen (don't look at the screen while driving blah blah blah), hold down:
- Map/Guide
- Dest
- Cancel
ALL at the same time for 3 seconds.

you may want to take that board out and make sure there are no other electronics missing.. ie empty spots on the board for other components.. often times the same base circuit board is used for many differemnt items, however not just the connectors are left off but some of the other support electronics for that particular function being deleted from the device...

my guess is that ALL 2012 Civics use the iMID for the reverse camera.. but that this NAV unit is used in more than one honda model (that dont have iMID).. so they likely deleted the electronics and possibly the software drivers as well....

interesting I wonder if the camera is wired directly to the NAV or goes into the iMID like the NON-NAV models and just displays on your NAV screen..

I would sooooo do that if you could see it on the Nav! would be wayy cooler! Just hate how you can't throw iMID stuff down to Nav, yet you can put all your nav shit on iMID... makes me pissed!

My understanding is there are inputs for the camera on both the nav unit and the imid (but no connectors/wiring for us US civic owners). The situation being: if you have nav, the camera hooks up to it. Otherwise, Honda wires it to your imid. Personally, I'd rather it go to the imid since I plan to use it for different camera angles besides just backing my car up. I've been racking my brain as to how to get the imid to switch to the camera view without having to go into debug mode. I guess one of the guys here got it to work with the honda oem camera...which is good news for us planning to hook other devices up to the video feed. The question is what the hell the oem camera is doing to the signals being sent by the imid. The roadblock right now is how to fake out the imid into thinking it has the oem camera installed since apparently a video feed isn't enough. Applying 12V to the reverse circuit (pin A14) by itself hasn't switched it to the camera. Blahhhhh
