Civic si 2012 clutch noise

Hey, i have a civic sedan si 2012 i just picked mine up and they replaced the flywheel throwback bearing and pressure plate but it still make the noise!!!!!!! what should i do, im under warranty still.

Mine started doing this at about 30k. It went away for a while and now it is back. Gonna call Honda and see what they can do.

So my 2013 SI is making the same noise that everyone is talking about on here and the damn dealership told me that the number on the TSB 10-11 isn't a number that they use. He told me that they would tear into it but if it wasn't covered by warranty once they figured it out I would have to cover the cost. Does anyone have anymore info on this problem.

I think the TSB is specific to 2012 models. But regardless, if you're under warranty then I don't see the issue. Unless they feel maybe you (poor driving) are the culprit.

It seems like there are quite a few 2012 civic si owners out there with the same issue as me ! I just bought my first "certified" Honda ,a 2012 Si sedan i absolutely love the car,,except for the strange high pitched sound coming from what i think is the clutch components (maybe throw out bearing ) . I have only owned the car for a month and a half, and from day one it started making this concerning sound ! It only happens in 1st gear when releasing the clutch between 1000 -1700 rpm especially on a hill going upwards, contacted Honda Canada ,and my dealer ,so far can't get anywhere with them to get this fixed unless i PAY for the repairs !! Could this problem be just the tensioner pulley ?

Lol thank god for that killer sound system ! so you never got it looked at,or tried to get it fixed ? And if not has the problem gotten worse or happen more often ?

My 9th Gen has the same problem. I've heard tons of videos of the sound and they all sound like that same hydraulic pump sound. I'm in the same predicament where Honda has no idea what the problem actually is (loud exhaust doesn't help -_-) So after about a month of back and forth with the dealership, I've come across a couple possible causes. It's either the release bearing, loose clutch load springs (Clutch buzz), the clutch slipping (very unlikely), or now the idler pulley. How hard would it be to replace that pulley myself?

Can anyone point me to a Honda validated solution? I have a '12 with 50k and confident the same problem after reading the comments that suggest the idler pulley is the culprit, and seems cheap, but if I have to take it in anyway would like to know if anything else needs to be done. Thanks.

I'm at 70k miles and I just started experiencing the issue yesterday. I read through the entirety of this thread as well as another one and I could only ever find the one guy who was able to fix his with the idler pulley. Other than that I didn't see anyone with a definite answer to this problem. The last page of the thread linked below (apparently I can't post links, not even to other threads on this same site..) indicates the only sure fix is replacing the factory clutch with aftermarket.

Just add the www to the below and it should take you there.

Or, you could just continue to drive the car... without replacing the clutch.

Guys, i really appreciate all the input and experiences shared of this issue. I am the owner of an ILX with a 2.4L 6spd that i purchased used end of 2017. I do share the same problem with the noise taking off from a stop. I had the dealer look into it but they cant replicate the issue. I will pay them a visit with some more knowledge after reading everyone's stories here and see what they can do. My ILX is a 2015 with 58k on it.

2014 civic Si does the same thing. Honda replaced clutch for free at 44k miles. Now at 89k miles, the noise is back. My Honda mechanic told me its the springs inside the clutch. They rust and cause a metal on metal squealing sound. Said its strictly a cringe worthy noise, but doesn't effect performance. The noise came back because Honda replaced my clutch with , you guessed it, another Honda clutch. He said if I can't stand the noise, just get an aftermarket clutch and I wouldn't know the difference with a little peace of mind. Because the shit is embarrassing when someone looks at your car because it just squealed lmao

Can confirm that this is exactly what it is. When I replaced my clutch the springs in the disk were in really bad shape. An aftermarket kit made the noise go away, and over a year later it hasn't returned
