It’s not the clutch or transmission guys. It’s the dam hill assist messing up
No it is not hill assist the noise tends to happen more frequently when your on an incline versus a flat surface. Most likely it is the throw out bearing. This topic has been discussed in depth on multiple threads on this forum search up the discussions.

Exactly. On a incline. That’s the hill assist messing up.
Many owners of 2012 and 2013 Si have complained about the same issue.

2012 and 2013 Si don't have hill assist.

9th gen Civics don’t have hill assist. I figured I’d let those of you know who may be worried and didn’t read through the entirety of this now 10 year old forum, wow, I’ve been driving with clutch squeal for roughly 40k miles and the clutch doesn’t slip and the noise or performance of the car hasn’t changed, just a lil embarrassing my poor car screaming for help.

What I can say is it seems some other people who posted said that it seems to be the clutch springs in the OEM Honda clutch gets horribly rusty and tend to cause this issue. I’m probably going to end up replacing my clutch eventually anyways as it’s about due for that service anyways and I will certainly be going aftermarket.

I have the exact same sound when taking off, mainly on an incline. I have lived with it the past 6 years! I am sure it ACTUALLY is the pilot bushing/bearing in the flywheel.
its not... it's the spring on the clutch plate.

Mine does it too, anything that causes the clutchplate to flex (hills or feathering the pedal when releasing the clutch) will cause the spring to rub and squeal.

Ok so here's how it started off. When I would be driving uphill 8 out 10 times I would hear something that sounds like clutch squealing. Ive read other posts where people have had this issue and say it is the clutch throwout bearing. So I took it to Honda and they said they changed it. So I made an appointment for Honda to try to change my clutch throw out bearing and I got a call after I dropped it off and the guy said that if it was not the clutch throw out bearing that I would have to pay for the labor to take out everything and drop the transmission. which would have been around $900 he quoted me. So instead of doing that taking the risky way I went to a place that was Honda technician certified and it turned out to be my tensioner pulley. They replaced it with the 8th gen SI tensioner pulley and it was direct fit there's no more noise releasing the clutch pedal going from a stop. So untamed auto save me around eight hundred dollars because it only was an hour labor and the part was 13 bucks. I was really happy that nothing on the transmission had to be taken apart and that it was a simple fix I went back to the Honda dealership and told them what happened and I got a free oil change whenever I want. So if anybody else is having the same noise I suggest to check the tensioner pulley because mine was loose, had a little chip on the side and grease was coming out of the bearing. I'm happy that my car is fixed but never going to that Honda dealership again.

Just bought a 2013 Civic Si yesterday with high milage, 200,000 miles. After getting it home, went to drive it and it made a squeeling noise when I started off in first. Much like a belt slipping on a pulley. It happened a good many times. It happens when I give it too much gas, especially going up hill.
I'm going to check the tensioner pulley on the serpentine belt in a few. Probably take it to a certified Honda repair shop to get their opinion later today.
I've searched the forum but there's no real solution other than this. Well, changing the clutch assembly. Searching here and Google it's a $1000-1500 to do that. Not wanting to spend that amount after just purchasing the vehicle. Could get a Hondata flash pro, dp, Cai for that much.
I barely was able to purchase the car, so didn't get the extended warranty. Heck, it's $2000. Would just about pay for the cost if it covered clutch replacement, which I doubt as it's considered a wear n tear part, like brake pads. Should I go back to the dealership and ask them to pay for it since it happened right after I bought it??? I'm rather frustrated and very disappointed. I waa without wheels for 3 1/2 months after wrecking my '02 Acura CL Type-S. Insurance totalled it, only paid out $4250. I really miss my Acura. Searched nationwide for an '03 CL Type-S with a manual trans, they have become rare and the price has increased a great deal. I loved my Acura CL's, owned an '01 before the '03. It was stolen, had liability only. 6 grand gone. Had to take the lose.

I'm not sure I'm going to be happy with the Si having driven a Type-S since 2011. Especially after finding out moding is kind of difficult/complicated and expensive. From what I've seen in this forum, you have to have Hondata flash pro just to replace the clutch, CAI, DP, or any other bolt on.
Sorry for the long post. Hello everyone. I would like to thank everyone who has and does contribute to this forum. I've found this site to be very helpful so far.

Which brand and stage clutch will you use???

It's a possibility, a strong possibility. Be sure and report your findings.

Because my 2012 honda civic si sedan awesome a horrible noise but only everytime you push the clutch pedal in 0nce clutch pedal is released its fine kind of sounds pas though some kind of belt is loose or something the noise started out small but is now alot louder yet when you push the pedal in with the attempt to shift it into gear one of those times even felt as though my car was going to try to shut off I didn't not want to risk driving my car home like that so I had it towed

My 2015 sedan si makes a sound when releasing the clutch in 1st gear only when going up hill
I bought a used 2013 11 months ago that makes a strange noise when releasing the clutch taking off in first gear. Didn't notice it until I had already paid for it and driven it home. As is/no warranty. Happens most starting off on a hill or if I take off too fast. It had 200,000 miles on it. Found this forum researching and came to the conclusion it's not a big deal, not hurting anything and have put approximately 9,000 miles on it.
I want to replace the clutch, pressure plate, release bearing, and flywheel as soon as I can save up the money. Its recommended to replace the slave/master cylinder at the same time.
I've decided to go with the OEM Exedy clutch and OEM flywheel so I don't have to reprogram the ecu which requires an $800 Hondata flashpro. It's going to be $500 - 700 for clutch parts. To do it myself I'll need an engine support, $400, to support the engine so I can drop the lower suspension assembly so I can pull the transmission. It's not that hard just time consuming and a lot of work. I see why the stealership wants $2,500. Independent shops quoted me $1700 - 2000. I've always worked on my own vehicles, when possible. Saving $800 - 1500 and knowing it was done correctly vs not having to get my hands dirty
Did you get yours fixed?
