You have to set the picture to a specific resolution: 234x480, 468x960, 702x1440 or 936x1920

• When importing wallpaper files, the image must be
in the USB flash drive’s root directory. Images in a
folder cannot be imported.
• The file format of the image that can be imported
is BMP (bmp) or JPEG (jpg).
• The individual file size limit is 2 MB.
• The maximum image size is 1,920 x 936 pixels. If
the image size was less than 480 x 234 pixels, the
image is displayed in the middle of the screen with
the extra area appearing in black.
• The number of files that can be selected is up to
255.
• Up to 64 characters can be displayed in the file
name.

Ive changed the size of the one that i keep getting the error on, the current size is 169kb, and is a jpg just like all the others i've put on, character name is 3 charactors. still wont load.

Whipped this one up quickly, anyone who's seen Spaceballs should like it :p

Took the speed meter image and the background vector art online, put a bit of transparency on, and resized! Can't try it on the car yet, but hoping to later today :)

So basically if I redo a USB stick to fat32 , put some pics in the root folder , what program do I use to make the right megapixelage? Then upload it to the I-mid , and it replaces one of the screens or can I put it in the black spaces?

One of the screens is designated for wallpaper. Photoshop is perfect, but there's probably some other software you can use. Or you can send me what you want, and I'll format it.

Any photo software works so long as you can trim the picture to the correct dimensions and save it as a .jpg.

isn't there a file size issue as well?
Yeah, but a 1920x936 .jpg is less than the 2 MB limit. Only if you leave the file in .bmp format, do you really run into issues. All hail .jpg format compression.

i cant win with the wallpaper lol size is under the limits, saved as a .jpg, checked file size compared to other wallpapers i put on the imid...still continue to get the unable to load error. :banghead:
