i-MID Not Turning Off, Plus another Issue

Hey Guys,

I'm in need of some help.

So recently I Noticed my i-MID isn't turning off. Now, after poking around the Internet and not really finding an exact match to the issue I'm having, I'm theorizing it may have something to do with the aftermarket head unit I had put in, but I'm not sure. Basically, I'll turn off everything (AC, headlights at night, etc) and then turn off the car and remove the key, and the i-MID screen will just.... stay on.

Now, I bought the car with a cheap, 3yo battery in it, and I had to jump the thing twice in 5 days. It was an Interstate brand battery, warrantied for 2yrs. I put a Diehard Platinum battery in it, cleaned the terminals, and the car's back to life.

Which brings me to the other issue that just started occuring after I changed the battery this morning: the i-MID screen went from the normal black with white text in amber highlight bars to just black screen with small, light gray text at the bottom, and it no longer displays average mpg.

These things are really starting to stress me out and I hope some of you can help me figure out what's wrong with it.

I'd like to note: I already tried replacing Fuse 29. Didn't do anything for me on either issue.

Vehicle is a 2012 LX.

I remember seeing threads (here and elsewhere) with people having iMID issues after installing Android head units. I would honestly take it back to whoever installed it and let them know the issues you're having.

I know the iMID has a safety function when you jump start your car, it goes into "safe mode" where it won't turn on immediately after a voltage spike (jump start). Not sure about the color/display changes you've been experiencing though, that's odd.

I noticed you have an android head unit, that's where the problem could be found.

I bought an EKIY T7 for my Civic 2013, after installing the radio the IMID was always ON even when the car was totally off, there was no way to turn that screen off, so I had to disconnect the battery car to avoid it to get drained.

I reinstalled the original radio and everything was back to normal, there was nothing wrong with the car like a blown fuse or a bad connection.

Second try with the EKIY T7: same problem. I decided to reset the unit to factory defaults, after the unit rebooted for first time no luck, the problem still was there.

I started re-configuring the unit in settings, when I got to the can bus configuration, there were different options (comparing to before the factory defaults reset), after selecting 2014-Civic the problem was solved, IMID screen now turns off as it should, no more battery draining, all steering wheel buttons work (including the call buttons), and the media information is now displayed in the IMID screen as it used to before installing the android radio.

My conclusion is that the can bus adapter provided or any related update was the problem, mine is RAISE brand.

Update: I took it back to the place that did the head unit install, and they were able to fix whatever the issue was. Kinda kicking myself that I didn't ask what exactly it was, I was just relieved that it was finished. The display on the i-MID is back now too. Two birds in one stone I guess 😅

I also have this problem. My father tried to install a new CarPlay on my 2014 Honda civic and at first it didn’t want to turn on and later he found that a fuse has blown and has replaced it with a new one and now the stereo and I-mid turn on but when I turn off the car that I made screen is still on. what is happening? it has almost drained my battery too

Guys, I am facing the same issue. I bought Awesafe px9 on Alixpress (the box came from apparently its a Junsun). But now my i-MID screen won't turn off, same as you described... I read the solution with reconfiguring CANBUS, but the problem is that in my case, there is no such setting (No CarSetting app). Any idea how to solve it?

Quick update, I was able to fix the i-MID screen problem, and wanted to leave a step by step process how I did it:

Problem: i-MID won't turn off, windows, mirrors, turn lights and lights are operating even thought I turned off, removed the ignition key and locked the car;

How the problem happened: The problem started happening after I ran out of vehicles battery.

Diagnosis: Apparently, after I ran out of battery, the Can bus deconfigured, and stopped recognizing the vehicle;

Solution: To solve this problem, the owner must perform following steps on Head unit:

Awesafe px9 (this is mine):

1 - Go to the settings;
2 - Go to the "Car Infotainment";
3 - Scroll down and click "About Device"
4 - Click on the "setting" icon in front of "HMI" number.
5 - This will prompt you a code. Insert "8888"
6 - Click on "CAN Type";
7 - If your CAN TYPE is 0, then click on it and type "1". This will show the list of the car brands and models on the right side.
8 - Select your car brand, model, and version / year if available;
9 - Hit "save". It will prompt you to reboot the Head Unit to apply settings. Click "Reboot"

Other Junsun Head Units (not mine, but my father has it):

1 - In the app drawer, go to "CarSetting"
2 - Click on TAB "System Settings"
3 - Click on "Factory Setting"
4 - Click on " Factory Setting" on the right side of the screen, it will prompt the code
5 - Try the following codes (they vary depending on the model): 8888, 2014, 1617, or 2010
6 -Click on "CAN set", and then again on "CAN set" from the right side of the screen
7 - Select your car brand, model and version if available.
8 - After selecting, click "Save". It may require the reboot.

Everything should work fine :)

I hope it helps. Also, my fathers Android Auto wasn't working, and I was able to make it work with bluetooth, so if you guys need help, I am happy to help.
Cheers 🖕

Would love to get some further assistant here.
I purchased a Navifly/Mekede TS800 unit for my Honda Civic Tourer 2015.
The seller sent a matching canbus and everything seems to be working properly including information about some car stuff like the AC, mileage, etc, etc...
But...as others here the i-MID isn't turning off.
I have tried to every canbus model that could match my car, but nothing worked.
Any ideas what else I can do? Anyone knows if this might be a similar solution?

From that link, they said:

IMID display stays on after vehicle is locked

This problem happens when AUXRIN and AUXLIN connector of the Teyes supplied wiring harness is connected. The Blue wire still supplies 3-4VDC from canbus.

Cutting the blue wire from AUX connector solves this issue

Thanks.

In case anyone is interested, with my system I have just done this(cutting the blue wire), and all seems to work fine now, i-MID turns off, and don't see any other issues, will try to update after a while of use.
