Just placed an order for an r18 megan downpipe. In less than a year when I get ready for smog Ill purchase the megan catless header and a defouler to bolt up once smog is set for another 2 years.

Downpipe should be installed this coming weekend.

The ILX has the r18? but the description says a 2.0.Just curious exactly what motor it has.
And does that engine cover fit the R18?I could then put a small jdm emblem where the Acura emblem is.I also noticed in a description it says pre 2.0 and the HP is the same as the R18.

I have a very similar R series engine, the R20. A full R18 exhaust should bolt up no problem. id even imagine the hanger placement for the mid/rear section to be the same as well. My bumper however does not have a cut out for an exhaust... to say.

The R18 downpipe should bolt on just fine to my cat as it is the same style as the r18; so the r18 header should be the same as well. I plan on purchasing a full aftermarket exhaust for the 2012 civic and chopping off the tip for a turn down like my stock exhaust. In the market for Megan, Borla, Skunk, Magnaflow, etc.

I would assume my engine cover would fit an r18 as I am pretty sure any r18 cover would fit mine. I would like to find the r18 cover with the i-Vtec badge.

I'll pull up the specs real quick between the R18 and R20..
From wiki R18-R20
Displacement 1,799-1,997cc
Compression 10.5:1-same
Power 138bhp@6,300-148@6,200rpm
Torque 128ft@4,300-140ft@4,197rpm

R20 is just a slightly larger engine than the R18.

nice ! can't wait to see the results !
Same here. It'll be a year before a tune comes into play. Ill have my exhaust done by then.

I need to figure out how a flashpro tune comes into play with smog. Like will flashpro make me fail a smog... can I flashpro the car with a catless header, then when smog time comes throw the cat on, get the smog and pass with the tune, then throw the header back on after will everything run fine?

Very excited. That along with Switt tuning for boost soon on his R20; going to be a very fun car to drive.
