Agreed. I love it. Looking at it from the side the difference isnt even all that much. Splash guard helps with that illusion.
And actually, this lip combo sits higher than when I had the STI lip alone. Before it hung down in the middle because it was supported less. Now I have about an extra half inch of clearance upfront but it just looks more aggressive. Love it.

Took new pictures thus morning after I did a wash yesterday. I know I take too many pictures.

i'm liking your build. the rear visor is a nice touch!
Thank you! It is one of my favorite additions. I really want to do a gloss black roof and match the visor.

Love it. So nice seeing the ILX modded. Very classy and clean.
Thank you my friend! Clean and classy is what Im going for.
The ILX is starting to pick up. You have Team3D doing a clean build, as well as Aaron whom goes by SlammedILX that you may see roaming the SoCal local meets with a white ILX stanced out on Volk Hyper Blue SSR Type Fs and some aggressive aero pieces supplied by AeroFlow.

Far more race inspired than mine, but it gives a really great contrast to what Im attempting with my ILX.

No more front tint.

I have to say... I really like it. hahaha

However once the window is rolled down I really dont like how the edge of the window looks... if that even makes sense. hahaha

So in the future I am going to go with I believe 50% which hardly looks tinted but looks better than clear when half way rolled in my opinion.

Thoughts?

One quick shot just because no more plastidip.
Have to say Im super happy. The wheels clean up so much better with a nice finish paint job.

And front plate back on because ticket. New chrome frames to ditch the boyracer ones I had.

What's the fine for no plate where your located. Mines 85$ 3 months no plate no issues. Where'd you keep your front plate when not in use?

In LA County, California it is a fix it ticket which is subject to a $25 fine and proof that you fixed the issue.

I kept my plate in my trunk.

Well. It happened.

I got new wheels. And I'm straight up giddy.

Some Work VS MX all original center caps and hardware. 3 piece not welded. And the seller threw in a BBS center cap tool that fits perfectly.
No joke Im ecstatic.
Color isnt exactly what I want but next year when I get them refurbished I can always go with an original silver or custom gunmetal.
They are burning gold, so it should be pretty eye catching.

Ill have pictures tomorrow of the wheels but they wont have tires until the weekend probably since I work everyday until 6.
Here is the sellers ad picture.

I cant wait myself.

Im really happy with this investment. Good authentic wheels can really hold their value.

Authentic work hardware. Work stamped on everything. Love it.

Sorry, I was told +36 for the offset. its infact 38. Oh well. All 4 the same size. Exactly what I wanted for easy tire rotations.

Image

Never redrilled. Original 5x114 / 4x100 pattern. 4x100 was never used.

I like when people have reasonable asking prices and when they do I like giving them what they asked for. This guy had the wheels posted at a great price. Even better since it wasnt too aggressive of a size which isnt too popular right now. People kept low balling him even lower but he knew what he had. I messaged him that Id give him what he wanted if they were exactly as he described. He told the guy that wanted 200 under his price to take a hike. I showed up last night, talked to him for almost an hour, great guy. Gave him his asking price and he threw in this OEM BMW center cap tool for the BBS wheels BMW uses. It fits perfect so now I can have a tight fit for my center caps. This tool is rare in itself. So damn happy.

I plan to refinish them once Im tired of the gold and it fades a bit. Then I'll re-lip them with some authentic 2" work lips to make it 18x9 about 25 offset. That will literally be perfect and if its not aggressive enough Ill just throw some spacers in the rear.
This is the direction I plan on going with refinishing.

Im interested to see how it looks on PMM. It should look great.
Should look similar to this lexus...

Update. We found the silicone sealing the 2 barrels was torn in a few spots.
Seller tells me they will still hold air because the barrels are still sealed inbetween.

Me, not wanting to take any chances, spoke with a repair guy for my buddies shop.
He gave me a great price for a full refurb on the lips and barrels plus stripping and repainting the faces.

Soooooo, I wont be mounting these suckers for another week... buuuuut they will be in perfect prestine condition when they are finally mounted. Not yet with the 2in lips I want but in a metallic gunmetal.

Thats what Im sending with the wheels to go for. These are Work Evos I believe so they look a bit different than mine. I want the gunmetal and gold. If he cant do gold which he said he wont know until he takes them part, then Ill just have him polish them to match the polished center cap.

Im not sure on weight. I put in my notes to take the weight down if the refinisher has a scale. If not Ill swing by my work where we have a few scales for weighing ammo.
They are a 3 piece forged design from work. Comparing them to the forged work rezax which is a somewhat similar mesh design by the same company, both wheels being forged, they are only 17.5lbs at 18x8. So if I am similar I will be very happy.

I dropped off the picture of those above works at the shop thus morning. My buddy should be shipping them out today. I imagine it will take about a week to break down, strip, respray, and rebuild all 4.

Then I need to purchase some valve stem adapters to rock the TPMS sensors properly. The authentic valve stem wont work with the tpms sensor so I had 3 options... ordered best to worst
1. Keep authentic valve stems aside and use tpms adapters
2. Wrap a band around the inner barrel and rock the tpms sensor separate
3. Drill into the inner authentic work barrels to install a tpms unit

Valve stems are 25$ so went with option #1. Taking the TPMS off my current wheels if I even can... if not Ill resort to #2.

As for the rivets I told them if he can gold plate them do that. If he can't then strip and polish them. If he thinks they wont polish then leave them black.

Once they get back out here Ill go in and get some tires figured out. Having a buddy work there means he can try on a couple of sizes to see what works best.

Damn they are pretty light, looking at them I thought they would be shit ass heavy.
So glad I don't have to deal with the TPMS bull shit on our Canadian Si models.
If you plan on further lowering your car make sure you take that into consideration when you buy tires. You don't want to get tires that will rub if you decide to go lower.

Discussion starter · #160 ·
Agreed. I dont plan on going lower anytime soon. I liked the stance as is so this will already make it more aggressive.

In the future I will and rubbing issues will definitely be considered.
