thanks.. I think i'm going to do that.

it didn't do it today, i'm thinking it may be an occurance when the car is hot. i will keep my ears open to try and pin point it..

i've got to go in tomorrow to have them fix a rattle/vibration in the door panel. i will inform them.

Ok.. I drove out of town today and got the car nice and hot. I've determined that the sound of shifting gears is only present when the car is hot and in motion. Most noticeable when coasting to a stop with the clutch in and moving up and down though the gears. It's a sort of clunk at various volume levels as I shift though the gears (not releasing the clutch). I also noticed when parking on the road that during a reverse when I finally push in the clutch that there is a kind of shake or rattle. I'm not sure if these are normal transmission sounds. I'm going to try to bring it into the dealer and have them look at it while I'm there and the car is hot. Can anyone else tell me if they have heard these types of sounds? (1000km on the car)

Thanks for your time

Yea, all those noises you are describing sound pretty normal to me. I've owned three manual transmission cars, and all have made similar noises. The shaking in reverse is probably because you're not giving it gas and coming close to the point of stalling the car. The car is still under warranty though, so it wouldn't hurt to take it to the dealership just for peace of mind.

thanks spazer. ive had a 2001 saturn with a standard transmission for 6 years and i don't really hear the transmission... but thats why thought i'd ask. as for the reverse shake its not what you think.. i know the shake you are describing.. this shake occors after i depress the clutch once i am done reversing. i'm used to a shake when you are gently reversing and not giving it gas.. but not used to it as a cause of pressing in the clutch.

Ah, gotcha. Yea, I wouldn't know what the shaking after pressing the clutch back in would be from, that's something that you should probably take in and get checked out. I think the noises is from less insulation compared to older vehicles. Honda just saving money in little ways.

wow, so when i turn my music down, i hear my clutch clicking too. it doesnt sound like shaking or anything said above, but its just a simple click that sounds like the turning blinker every time i depress the clutch. it didnt do this before, should i be worried?

Prolly it .. especially if it just clicks once when you depress the clutch.
but its just as loud as the turn signal click.. is that desirable? can i make it not make that noise?

8th gen owner (2006) - started the same way as your describe. Heed my words very *VERY* carefully....get it fixed, now! I was stupid enough to led it slide for a while, then I was naive enough that once I did bring it up, I just let the dealership keep lubing it, which fixed it temporarily, but now with my warranty up, it would cost about $300-450 to get the suspected culprit replaced (clutch master cylinder). I refuse to do it because if you research other posts, you'll see that even after it's replaced, the clicking can very possibly return. No matter though, hound the dealership, insist on getting it fixed. Shame on Honda for letting this issue go on and on and on. It happens to too many owners for it to be a fluke, or just a bad parts batch. What ever happened to Honda Quality, to Japanese precision....? Acura owners aren't faring any better. Oh, and to answer your question, it will not get better, and it won't go away, even if you think it has...it will come back, louder and more annoying. Mine works 100% fine in the summers, but as soon as temps drop to about 7 or so Celsius, it returns and it's bad. Loud, annoying and it feels horrible.

I'm no lawya but If it was documented within the warranty; you're covered. The complaint was present but it was never repaired properly. You need to be very firm, and polite, about your position. Federal regulations provide very stiff penalties and large financial settlements for those parties within a contract that purposefully or inadvertently damage the other party or cause the other party not to receive what was contracted for. Do a search on good faith and contract. I believe it falls under the TORT contractual laws.

Sounds to me like an electrical switch noise when I hear it.

Mine has a light clicking sound as well. 1,200 miles or so.

My 2006 had a click (the clutch felt better in that car as a whole though), and eventaully turned into a squeaking squeal every time I pressed it down (especially after washing it or in cold weather).

I've had a few disconcerting pop ups since purchasing this car in a mere 1,300. If this is foreboding what's to come, I may not keep it long - this is Honda's final chance to win me. They have two strikes against them for quality and reliability.

360 watt stereo

Turn it up!!! Yes the engine note is amazing, but this sounds like a spring noise or something that should be drowned out by engine rev or LOUD music on your NEW 360! watt stereo. Oh and yes it bothered me too, but Honda won't do anything if we all hear is and it is not hurting anyone.

12 si clutch issue clicking noise when pressed down

Has anyone had this issue I have a 12 si 4 door and when I hit the clutch down when I'm in neutral it makes a clicking noise when I pump the clutch to see. Sometimes when I'm driving it sounds like a rock in a can being shaken when I press it in. Is that normal brake in, or should Honda look at it?
